I Plan Driving Home For New Year, What's Your Advice? by johnchins: 8:50pm On Dec 09, 2021
Okay guys, straight to the point.

The last time I travelled very far distance with my Honda Accord 09 was in October, when I went for my friends wedding in Auchi.

Although the journey was smooth, the natural problem I encountered was that I later discovered that my break master was faulty, that was changed after I arrived.

To add: yes, there was a lot of checkpoints in the Benin road, despite driving a private car with some few friends, there was still a lot of roja here and there. Little tough time with the police men, but FRSC, Custom, and VIO no gimme wahala as I had all my papers and safety accessories complete.

I planned on driving to the East this new year, naturally I would have booked cheap flight ahead but I need the car around while I'm at home for a lot of running around due to some planned activities, that's why I chosed to travel with my car.

To ensure the journey go smoothly, I'm doing a lot of fixes on the car, changing front tyres, break pad, shocks and buying extra ball joints just incase grin

To the guys in the house who travel long distance with their ride, what else should I check out for?

Ensure u have the spare parts of your car engine inside ur trunk ranging from oil pump, radiator, oil sump, engine block (cylinder block), the combustion chamber, the cylinder head, pistons, the crankshaft, the camshaft, the timing chain, the valve train, valves, rocker arms, pushrods/lifters, fuel injectors, and spark plugs.

Also dont forget to have at least, 4 spare tyres and an extra steering wheel incase the one mounted on your car pulls off on motion.

Tried this and worked perfectly for me!

You should have told him to buy a spare engine and put in the trunk

NIGERIA IS NOT SAFE!

I wouldn't advise anyone to take such risk of long distance drive especially during the festive season.

From my own experience, keep lots of money because a car can develop any fault on transit

Hope you are not going home to impress anyone at home because of the car

At times, people that don't frequent home, agoube be careful on how you show yourself, you don't know who us happy for you and who is sad for your progress

Driving to the East takes about 8hrs and on that high way, you come across crazy drivers

Left for me, go on public transport and get an okada man that will take you to places if you cavt treck it

It's always good to live low life especially with thus village people

Don’t follow the advice of @frozen70. Service your car and still go ahead with the schedule. You should use bikeman to avoid village people? Lol I am sure this not for someone heading to Anambra. Who are you coming to impress in the village kwanu? I always drive home when is not festive season. Is it now I keep the car and hop public transport? Lol some people with their thinking. If you are not in Anambra state your festive celebration is never complete.

I'm not someone who likes showing himself, I live a very low key life. When I bought my car, it took a very long time for most of my friends to even know I had a car, yes its my first car. If you don't see me drive it, you will never know I own one cos the picture of the car has never appeared in my FB or WhatsApp status. I'm that Conservative. If I take that car home today, it will require a lot of observations to correctly point out which of the brothers owns the car.

As I said before, the only reason I'm travelling with it, is that there will be a lot of running around with the car.

Not that I'm scared of village people ooh, but afraid of beggars who will see car and think I have finally arrived.
