Very soon Nigerians will start kidnapping MDS and forcing them to employ them due to unavailability of credible jobs.

This I have seen.

I remember earlier this year when I was in Ibadan, I and a friend I met during my NYSC whom was living in Ibadan too by then. Together we trekked and comb the entire Oluyole Estate in a day. All the big manufacturing industries, from 7up, P&G, Sumal and others I can't remember their names. I felt humiliated that day with my experience grin

Thank God for life grin

I also went to Dangote Cement Factory at Obajana, Kogi at the end of my service year there. Na security collect my cv grin

That do happen around 1990s to early 2000 but now it is from the gate that they will drive you away, even for NYSC PPA sef that you are not going to be paid they will still say no vacancy

I was in Abuja then circa 2007. At the gate of NCC, NEPA, NigComSat, FIRS, etc. I always claim to see Mrs. Any Yoruba name, that my RCCG pastor asked me to give her a confidential letter. Once I'm allowed in, I just go and explain to the receptionist.

Na thunder go fire all these company gatemen them. They keep forming big boys once they see applicants.

Many Nigerians are very sympathetic to the plights of struggling Nigerians, I wish I could relay my experience in words so I can give normal warri body demonstrations.

So sometime in 2017, things where terrible for me, very very terrible and I kept swinging like a pendulum in and out of depression, I left my little abode in warri Delta State and set sail to set up camp with cousins in festac Lagos, I relaid to them my mission in Lagos, to jejely submit my CV in as many companies as possible.

Armed with the little change I could dust and gleaned from my malnourished bank account and leaking pockets, I was optimistic, I already made alot of photocopies of my CV and also edited to standard...

My cousins gave me directions how I will arrive "ligali", I carefully jotted notable landmarks, I wore a well ironed shirt to tocked in a blue jeans trouser, my bag hanging loosely behind me like a hunters bag, I bounced through "Amuwo odofin" just as I was to cross the express, someone tapped me by my shoulders, waived a not so clear i.d card in my face, introducing himself as a police officer and telling me to follow him, with my rude warri accent and bass voice, I asked "follow you go where? Why I wan follow you?" He said what do I have in my bag, I quickly opened it, he saw many envelopes, brought one out, I allowed him read it and told him I was going job hunting, he looked at me and said "good luck", I didn't even care if he was a police or not, i jejely continued my journey...

Whilst the story is very long, I arrived at ligali and asked a police man for pan ocean company, dude asked if there was a problem, I said no and he just gave me directions without any qualms, at pan ocean, the security didn't allow me walk in but honestly they were sympathetic, the security man and lady told me to reach out through the web site, they gave me their number to call if I had difficulty and that they won't allow me in because they were protecting their own garri...

I walked down and got to halliburton, same thing, the security guys there liked my warri pidgin and one bought me "expensive" indomie, they encouraged me, one even pointed to a staff for me to go meet with and talk to, trying to talk to the staff, he kept walking away and pretended he was making a call, me sef i press am leave am when e shakara con too much for my body.

When I got home, I had dropped 11 cvs with security men and spent about 4k for tfares.

The next day, I told my cousins I needed to go to where there were petroleum depots, he gave me directions to apapa and "Abule Ado", I walked round Abule Ado dropping cvs for safety officer job, I made sure I asked for the safety officer/ manager and I met with them, in all honesty, I never received any bad word from anyone, they encouraged me, took my numbers and I dropped my CV, infact I went to a company depot, I have forgotten the name of the company, but they had red and ash colour to their painting/ coverall, the safety manager, took time to listen to me, offered me a cold drink on that Thursday afternoon, dipped his hands in his pocket and gave me about 3,000 naira, he said he remembered he did what I was doing, he said prayers and told me he had no vacancy, he didn't get my number and didnt give his number, but he was almost in tears...

I went somewhere again and these guys where talking to me like they knew me from Adam, one was saying abeg help me call sulemon, it was latter I called someone and told him I came here to look for work o, he said he thought I was a staff, he directed me to another guy who took my CV and said its only the MD that hires people, I should come the next day to meet the MD....

There was a depot under construction, so many mopols were around, and people on suits, I joined them in their walking entourage and discussion, they didn't mind me, they were concerned about a puddle of water and mud, funny enough, no one even noticed I was not a member of their team, it was when I discovered their Waka just start, na so I press am leave them, I got one guys number and told him I needed to check something.

Okay, nothing much happened from the Lagos trip, but I felt happy and revigored at the encouragement, God bless that man who gave me that money and prayer; humans are not as bad as we sometimes feel or hear from the news, that was my first and only time being in lagos, I left Lagos the next day for Ibadan and back to warri...

If I had remained in Lagos and kept pressing, visiting and revisiting those areas, with my mind focused, I should have gotten one of those jobs, I also enjoyed the carefreeness of people, little wonder it's easily taken advantage of by terrible individuals...

Whilst I still work on contract basis with companies in warri, I would have love to enjoy working as a permanent staff to a company, I am very open for any offer...

Instead of you submitting your CV physically, why not send it as a letter to the company...Attach a cover letter with the CV, direct the letter to a known department....

Not sure the gateman will let you in

You need to have a prior appointment or probably have someone inside that can clear you in...

My experience so far has been terrible, Since i concluded my NYSC in 2019 I've trekked every corner of Lagos searching for a job. I've submitted my CV and Application letter to companies and law firms in Lekki, Ikoyi, Alausa, Opebi, Allen, Apapa etc. Sometimes when you get to the gate and explain to the security guards that you want to submit your CV for any job opening available they will bounce you out immediately. I don suffer sha i don do fasting and prayers on top of job matter.... But i know 2022 will be a better year. With the frustration instead of sitting at home i decided to work with a Law Firm close to my house the pay is 20k, i believe God has something better in store for me this coming 2022.

Me: Not at all, I want to submit my CV
S: Nawa o... I think say you be staff o... So u nor get work naim u dress like who get work?? Vacancy nor de..

Since then I've not returned to that their office again

I used my last 20k go buy suit for Douglas Market owerri.

I kitted up and went straight to ABC TRANSPORT PLC.
The security isn't as stiffnecked as other people's experiences.

I told the security that I was looking for one Mr Verera Regha.
I had thought he was a foreigner.
I got his name from their website. He is the Head of safety.

I met a staff that looked elderly, spoke to him, he looked at my CV and felt it had merit, and directed me by hand, to go submit my cv to the People's manager.

Within 3 months, I got called for exam, passed and went for the interview...worked there for 4yrs before I resigned due to...*****

It was a great working experience. The members of staff are very good people to work with...if you know your way around office politics.
