You can still use your NECO result to apply for admission in the United States some institutions accept it. But if your NECO is result is not good also, you can write WAEC/NECO GCE and apply for admission.

I would have wrote WAEC again but the person sponsoring me wants me to start this year because he wants to use money for something important next year

You can use neco as well if you can write IElTS better it will be the adm process more easier

I think you could just take GED (GCE equivalent in the USA) exam. If you pass you could be admitted to a university in the United States..

I'm not sure though.
