Could He Be A Scammer? by Giwoni: 9:25am On Feb 09, 2022
Last night, I received #500 airtime which was recharged directly through mtn vtu. I waited for some minutes if, the sender could call me as there was no way to identify who sent the airtime. I also thought of using my status to draw the attention of the sender and possibly thank him or her.
While I was still waiting and wondering who could that be, my phone rang. I picked the call only to hear a man telling me if I can send him back the airtime(even if it is #300-400) as it was a mistake from him trying to recharge his number. Instead of typing 090..., he typed 080... That the only mistake was that 8 instead of 9.
I told him that I will send back his airtime. Immediately something came up in my mind that the guy might be trying to access my bank account. I then decided not to send it to avoid him knowing my message center number and all that. Now, I am waiting if he calls again, to give him my telegram username and ask him to chat me up and get his airtime immediately.

My question is could someone use this method to get your account information and possibly scam you?

I am so willing to give him his airtime but not to compromise my own security consciousness. I have heard people say that one can scam others if he or she has access to their message centre numbers.

It's a popular scam format...you return it, he will call you back and start thanking you..he will then link you with someone...

Use bank app to return his airtime and block him for good.

Okay, then you use the Telegram medium you wanted to use, I think it's safer that way

. He won't succeed by God's grace. I won't even tolerate any long story from him. But he might still try using another number to come in a different dimension. He will still fail.

It's not a scam, he made an honest mistake, those scammers usually send fake airtime not direct recharge. Besides all mtn numbers uses same center number (+234300000000) or something like that. You are just naive, not everything is scam.
