Our Gods Are Dead


What did you say?
Didn't we kill them, Our Gods?
We killed them,
By our own hands,
When we were told new stories
about a new world, a new God.

Our Gods are dead,
They remain dead,
We have killed them,
The ones we adopt are not ours,
We killed our Gods,
We burned some,
We buried some.

Who will relieve us of our agony?
How shall we amend for our sins?
Who will cleanse the blood from our hands?

These new Gods took more than they give;
Our identity, Our culture, Our tradition,
Our morals, Our spirituality, Our ideas,
Our resources too.
Sometimes we still go back to find favor with the spirit of our true Gods.

The truth is we haven't truly left them... If we had, we would have been much better off as a nation.

Some churches and leaders are still worshipping them inside their church buildings but with a disguise...

So much innocent blood is still being shed on their behalf and used to pollute the land making it impossible for the land to be sound and healthy.

I pray that all the diabolic gods and idols will truly die in the hearts of Nigerians, and they would humbly return to the true God, so that the land can truly be healed and restored. In Jesus name. Amen!
