Wrestling was real back then. But now it is Entertainment.
Then it was called WWF- World Wrestling Federation.
and IWF - International Wrestling Federation.

Now it is called WWE - world wrestling entertainment.

Back then it was brutal real wrestling with wrestlers having genuine grudge and dislike for each other.
I recall the fight between Steve Kean and Park Sung.
Steve Kean was having a fight with some dude, and then Park Sung who had a grudge with Steve came out of the dressing room and attack Steve and broke Steve neck.
It was so real.
Steve Kean was in hospital for 4 wks.
Then a few weeks ahead, Park Sung was having a fight with another man, then came Steve Kean to retaliate. He ran into the ring, gave Park Sung a beating and broke Park Sung leg. Viewers could see glaringly that Park Sung leg was broken the way it turned and twisted. It was so real. I still have goose pimples now as I recall the twisted leg.
I also recall the fight between Ugandan Kamala and Undertaker. U could see the raw fright in Kamala's eyes. And do you remember Shawn Michael's?? Shawn didn't fight like he was entertaining. He was cunningly wicked.
That was when wrestling was wrestling. Real fights.
But today Wrestling na entertainment. I stopped watching that silly drama they show now.

RiP, he remains one of my favourite. I used to like his shiny black hair in those days. I wanted to grow my hair and use gel to make it shiny. Na cane, them take reset my ambition. Good old days.

These days i enjoy AEW. Some of their matches are wowmazing

No, you got it wrong. Professional wrestling has NEVER being real. The only difference between the past and the modern day is that kayfabe has been broken. Magazines and internet boards in the 90s already pierced the veil and the internet has shattered the illusion. The only ones who think it’s real are mostly kids and a few incredibly credulous adults. In the past kayfabe was in and out of the ring.
