a final year student who Nature have being cruel to all becouse of insistent strike actions, a class of 2020, I got admitted 2015 but the routing Educational systems and COVID19 which started march 20, 2020 which change the accademic calander, the landlord forced us to pay our rent even why we were not in the apartment,he said since our load is in his house we have to pay our rent, things was actually bad due to lockdown, I used my school fees in place of my rent , hoping for money then ASUU strike came in we have to stay at home hustling for survival and try to raise my fees and after the strike was called off, same story that our rent is due not waiting or given us time why ASUU gave the 4 weeks warning strike , He called and made us knw that we pay or leave the house, now that ASUU have extended the strike and we were not able to comply with him , begging to give us more time we actually gave him part payment of 25k which he refused and throw out my things and put another lock � on his door, since then survival is sleeping in classes and sometimes sleep in the mosque,when this strike is over I think is another hell for me!

I really feel ur pain bro. The landlord has no legal right under Nigeria law to force your door open and bring out your things outside and lock the door. This is a case you would've made life hard for the so called landgrabberlandlord if you have ur way.My landlady try this sometimes 2019 and I told her she stole people's contribution I hard with me. Like play like play, human right involve and she was begging but she ended up paying me more money above my house rent and my pastor asked me not to collect the money that the woman might be evil and that she might have done something with the money since she never stole any money from me. For where, I collected my money which paid twice and left her house after 7 extra months with no payment.

Just move back to your village.

Don't bother pleading with him to unlock the door.

When the strike is over, just come back and rent another room.

By then, you must have gathered some money.

Tomorrow, you may even be richer and better than him.

Some people are just heartless.

How many months are you owing in total? As for the bold above, the landlord is right to demand for his rent. As long as you occupy his room, even if the strike lasts for 8 years you will have to pay since he is not the cause of the strike, it is same as a tenant travelling out of state and refusing to pay.

Going forward, please rent a smaller building you can afford even if it means living in a face me I face you house. Secondly, create a fixed deposit account dedicated to rent alone, pay in your rents into it on monthly basis and pay to the landlord at year ends from it.

In as much as I sympathise with you, but the landlord is also a business man and depend on his tenant houses to survive the harsh economy. I am only against the mode of eviction.

Have never hold him for rent far always do my best to make sure I clear my dept, some time I pay late registration, cuz of house rent ,but u knw things are no longer the way it use to be, thanks for ur openion sir I appreciate it

That doesn't work in the north sir, morever, the landlords here, they don't knw wat human rights is seriously and if I have to he money to sue ,is advisable a find another place to lay my head life is too short now.thsnks for ur advise

See eh in as much as I don't like the cruelty of some landlord towards their tenants I also condemned the attitude of some tenants like you. You think is every landlord/lady u can try this shii with? How can someone be heartless living in someone apartment without paying his rent and at the same time boasting about it? Are u the one that built the house for her? If u try this nonsense with me eh you will end up in kuje prison after assaulting you physically.
