It is obviously you who refuse to accept God’s Word this because of some preconceived notion you have that that which does not feel good is by default sin with God but that isn't anything about sin but human emotions. undecided

Again, try to reason what Jesus Christ said of those who will become worthy of Him. undecided
Jesus Christ is telling you that if you aren't willing to loose your life for His sake - your marriage, your wife, your children..... you are not worthy of Him. undecided

But here you are telling me instead that what Jesus Christ said there in the passage above is instead sin, meaning you think God is deluded and Jesus Christ a liar. undecided

Are you certain you even know who Jesus Christ is to begin with? undecided

You are quoting Luke 14:26 out of context. You can only be willing to lose your marriage for his sake if your partner is hindering you from serving God. Both if both of you are in the faith, you are not expected to opt out of your marriage for his sake. Our Lord Jesus is an author of confusion. He can not put a rule to guide divorce in one passage and go against it in another.

You can't marry today and just wake up you don't want to marry again because of reasons that don't hold water. This was the case in the Old Testament. A man can just wake up and give a letter of divorce to his wife for personal reasons. But our Lord Jesus said no one should do that anymore except for sexual immorality. And you struggling to understand this simple instruction. Are you an anti Christ.

Jesus said don't divorce unless she is caught in immorality but you said divorce is okay for any reason. Are we supposed to follow you or Jesus? You don't have the moral or legal right to change the word of God. There is no ambiguity in the statement of our Lord Jesus. Unless you have a problem understanding simple English or you just want to defend your opinion at all cost in spite of evidences against it.

Right there Jesus Christ tells you you should be willing to loose it all for His sake, but you think you can water down His expectation by putting future what are kwekwe scenarios? undecided

2. So you are insinuating that God who allowed divorce in His Old Covenant made a mistake. And then changed His mind in His New Covenant in other to rectify that mistake? undecided

So God, you think, now changes His mind?. undecided

3. The same God of the Old Covenant is the same God of the New Covenant. God is not a man that He should lie nor that He, God, should change His mind. That is the very reason why Jesus Christ never changed any of what God decreed as far as divorce is concerned. Instead God limited men on remarriage, instituting a standard higher than that of the Old Covenant. undecided

quote author=Uprightness100 post=111936096][i]Irrespective of how the world changes, The WORD of GOD will not Change because of a Changing World.

Being a Christian, Gospel musician, Pastor, Prayer machine, Bishop or whatever does not Exempt you from Disater if you go outside GOD'S will or GOD'S plan. Once you choose your own way, it does not Matter who you are, you will face the Consequences.

These are the Facts of Marriage from the Word of GOD.

GOD'S Standard of marriage is One man one wife.

GOD Hates Divorce. If you happen to come to a point where you say your spouse has done this or that and you cannot Forgive or you are going, you must understand that remarrying Under anyguise is fornication and Adultery.

Only Death Permits one to remarry. Any other remarry is Immorality, Fornication and Adultery.

GOD is the Institutor of Marriage. Conciously involve GOD in your Choice of Partner. If you are Honest with GOD, HE will Direct u. GOD speaks! GOD leads! GOD directs.
If your don't hear GOD, better not to marry.

On what scripture is this based on?

I mean remarrying under any guise is fornication and adultery , and that only death permits one to remarry .

Where’s that in the Bible?

He permitted certain things under the Old Testament because of the weakness of their flesh. So many things have changed and they have been altered for a better life.

The sermon of Jesus on the mount alone unveils a few things that was changed by Jesus himself outside the law of marriage. Let's look at them one by one.

1. The Law of oath

Matthew 5:33-37
33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, SWEAR NOT AT ALL; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Under the law they could swear but Jesus said they should not swear at all.

The Law of retaliation

Matthew 5:38-39
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Under the law, they were permitted to retaliate. If someone blind your eyes, you have the legal right to blind his eye. But under the new, we are not permitted to render evil for evil. The letters of the Apostles says the same thing;

Romans 12:17 RECOMPENSE TO NO MAN EVIL FOR EVIL. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

1 Peter 3:9 NOT RENDERING EVIL FOR EVIL, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

The law of Love and Hate

Matthew 5:43-44
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

My friend, so many things have changed for the better with the coming in of grace.

God gave the Old Covenant Law to the nation of Israel as a Constitution which was He intended to rule the nation with. The Old Covenant was not a mistake made by God instead it was given by God as en eternal Covenant meaning it does continue as God's Law for the people of Israel until the end of time. undecided

As Jesus Christ made clear, He did not come to change any of what God had previously established but instead to offer us a new and higher standard where God, not the things of the world, and His Kingdom is concerned. The New Covenant is not meant as a replacement for the Old Covenant since it is instead a different Law for a different Kingdom - the Kingdom of God. undecided

God didn't change His mind in regards to divorce in the Old Covenant, again this since His Old Law remains intact to this day and forever. Instead God presents a different standard for those who will chose to be of His Kingdom, which is not of this earth. The same goes for the Laws of Oath, and the other laws you mentioned. The Old Law and the New Law are eternal Laws... same God, no mind changed, just different standards for different Kingdoms. undecided

17 Don’t think that I have come to destroy the Law of Moses or the teaching of the prophets. I have come not to destroy their teachings but to give full meaning to them.
18 I assure you that nothing will disappear from the law until heaven and earth are gone. The law will not lose even the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter until it has all been done. - Matthew 5 vs 17 - 18
▪︎The Old Covenant Law of Moses was God's Law for those who have the blood of Jacob coursing through their veins and is meant as a National Constitution for the Nation of Israel which God created in the Land of Canaan - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20 - a Nation of this world. undecided

▪︎The New Covenant, Jesus Christ is God's Law to individuals meant as a Law for living in the Kingdom of God - Matthew 26 vs 28 - 30 - a Kingdom not of this world. undecided

You mean you have scriptures to prove Jesus Christ(God) lied in Matthew 5 vs 17 - 18? And my guess is this were spoken by Jesus Christ Himself? undecided

Go for it! Let's see what you have.

Abolishing the Law implies a doing away of, by God, of the Nation of Israel, the same Nation Jesus Christ is slated to return and rule over for a millenia, this since that very Law is God's constitution given to Israel, a Covenant from Him as evidence of His promise to Jacob. undecided

Jesus Christ instead said He came to fulfill the Covenant, not abolish it. And fulfillment occurs when the promise God made by God to the children of Israel is carried out... the promise of long life in the land of Israel. According to Jesus Christ, to take place when He returns to reign over them, not before. undecided

Just calm down. We learn everyday. I will quote at least ten verses or passages affirming that the law of Moses has been abolished or that says we are no longer under the Law of Moses for you to read and digest first after which I will reconcile it what Jesus said in Matthew 5:17. Let's start;

#1
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for YE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW, but under grace.
#2
Romans 7 :4-6
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become DEAD TO THE LAW by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. note

6 But now we are DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

#3
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the END OF THE LAW for righteousness to every one that believeth.

#4

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is NOT JUSTIFIES BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: FOR BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSTIFIED.

#6
Galatians 3:11 But that NO MAN IS JUSTIFIED BY THE LAW IN THE SIGHT OF GOD, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

#7

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

#8

Ephesians 2 :15 Having ABOLISHED IN HIS FLESH THE ENMITY, EVEN THE LAW OF COMMANDMENTS contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.

#9

Colossians 2:14 BLOTTING OUT the HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES (LAWS) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

#10

Hebrews 7:18-19
18 For there is verily a DISANNULLING OF THE COMMANDMENT going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19 For THE LAW MADE NOTHING PERFECT, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Who called Paul into the ministry. Jesus himself said there were so many things he wants to say but couldn't say them. He said that the Holy Spirit will reveal them to us when he comes. And he did just that.

John 16:12-13.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

And Paul said

Ephesians 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now REVEALED UNTO HIS HOLY APOSTLES and PROPHETS by the SPIRIT;

If Apostles was in error, Jesus would have mentioned it in his letters to the churches. You can't sweep under the carpet the writings of Apostles Paul which occupied almost half of the New Testament.

God decreed that His Covenant is eternal and Jesus Christ affirmed this by confirming that He did not come to abolished but to fulfill, and He promised His followers to rule over Israel with Him when He returns to do just that. But there is a New Covenant. And it is not possible to have the old one still effective when there is a new one.

It was even spoken through the mouth of Prophet Jerimiah that God will take away the old covenant and establish the new one. Read the prophecy below;

Jerimiah 31:31-34
31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: note

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

And the writer of Hebrews made reference to this when he wrote;

Hebrews 8:7-13
7 For if that FIRST COVENANT HAD BEEN FAULTLESS, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 FOR FINDING FAULT WITH THEM, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: note note

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13 In that he saith, A NEW COVENANT, HE HATH MADE THE FIRST OLD. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is READY TO VANISH AWAY.

I believe you are getting a clearer picture. God found fault with the first covenant. So, he had to establish a new one.

One of the fault of the Old Covenant was that it told the Jews what to do but it did not give them the ability to do it.

The Jews could not keep the law because of the weakness of the flesh. And instead of being blessed by the law, they came under a curse. This is why Jesus had to come to redeem them from the curse of the law. As it is written;

Galatians 3:13 Christ HATH REDEEMED US FROM the CURSE OF THE LAW, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

And anyone who attempts to go back to the law brings himself under a curse.

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law ARE UNDER THE CURSE; for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

1. There are at least 4 Covenants that I am aware of that are still in operation to this day...

1. The Covenant God gave to Adam in the beginning(the world remains under curse by it).
2. Covenant of Noah(the rainbow still shows up as reminders thanks to it)
3. Covenant God made through Moses those of the blood of Jacob. Israel is still a nation by it.
4. And Jesus Christ , God's New Covenant, with individual men for living in the Kingdom of God.

2. God never found fault in any of His Covenants. No where in scripture is this claim that He did stated by God Himself. undecided

If men found fault in any of God's Covenants, that is of men but not of God. undecided

3. The claim that the jews could not keep God’s Old Covenant is untrue. This since there are many righteous men of old recorded. In the Gospels, we are told of at least 5 righteous men who lived during the time of Jesus Christ who made it known that He did not come to call the righteous but the sinners to God. undecided

4. Well, Jesus Christ taught His disciples that it is not possible to have one foot in the Old Covenant and the other in the Old Covenant. And He also said there is no going back once one has entered into the Kingdom of God. undecided

In Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20, God explains what is to happen when the Old Covenant is fulfilled and those promises are still off in the future when Jesus Christ comes back to reign over the 12 tribes as He promised, so how can the law itself be said to have been canceled? undecided

I am not certain where you get the idea that a new Covenant means the Old is done away with. undecided

Every point I made is from the scripture. I even quoted Jerimiah. We formerly called Gentiles were never part of the Old Covenant. It was given to the Jews. And God has brought a new covenant for them but they rejected it.

It is their rejection that gave us the opportunity to be saved. But God still has a plan for them. One day in the very near future, they will turn to Christ and be saved. Right now, they are partially blinded.

God also never intended His Old Covenant for us gentiles and so the promises of that Covenant remain for the jews alone. God will never give that which belongs to Jacob to the gentiles. undecided

But there is a New Covenant. And it is not possible to have the old one still effective when there is a new one.
If you jump out of a flying aeroplane with an opened parachute, it does not mean that the law of gravity isnt still effective or no more in operation when the effect of a new law, meaning Newton's Third Law of Motion is applied, like when the parachute is let opened

TruthinAction:
One of the fault of the Old Covenant was that it told the Jews what to do but it did not give them the ability to do it.
The Old Covenant was not faulty per se, it served its purpose. Its intended function was to show how much an Intercessor, Mediator, Interceder, Conciliator is required between man estranged from God.

Now when the Old Covenant in space of 4000 years had done what its needed and required to do, it was replaced with a superior, stronger and more powerful water tight covenant

TruthinAction:
The Jews could not keep the law because of the weakness of the flesh. And instead of being blessed by the law, they came under a curse. This is why Jesus had to come to redeem them from the curse of the law. As it is written;

Digest this one first before I give you more details. Most Pastors don't even know this truth. This is why the church is divided on many doctrinal issues.
Deuteronomy 30:19
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

Galatians 3:10, Galatians 3:13 and Deuteronomy 30:19 are all referring to the curses stipulated in Leviticus 20:1–9, Leviticus 26:14–39 and Deuteronomy 28:15–68. The choice still exists. Choice between life and death, between blessings and curses.

We thank God that we are privileged to enjoy living under God's undeserved grace and blessings, not the Law and curses (i.e. Romans 6:14)

Evidence that the Jews rejected him

John 1:11-12
11 He came unto his own, AND HIS OWN RECEIVED HIM NOT.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

There where of course Jews that were Christians but after years of persecution, the majority went back to practice Judaism. They rejected the message of Paul especially when he said circumcision was no longer necessary in their walk with God.

Read what Paul said concerning this

Romans 11:11-12
Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! THEY WERE DISOBEDIENT, SO GOD MADE SALVATION AVAILABLE TO THE GENTILES. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves. NOW IF THE GENTILES WERE ENRICHED BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TURNED DOWN GOD'S OFFER OF SALVATION, think how much greater a blessing the world will share when they finally accept it - New Living Translation.

But it has ended. This is why it is called Old Covenant.

The law and grace are mutually exclusive events. Both cannot run concurrently. Hence Paul wrote;

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Work in this context refers to the law of Moses. The law is a work system.

No one can be justified by keeping the law of Moses. The just shall live by faith.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the END OF THE LAW for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Even before examining the context of the statement, what Paul wrote there seems to be instead that His statement applies only to those who believe in Jesus Christ. undecided

According to Jesus Christ, you cannot serve two masters - The laws of God being masters. You can either love on and hate the other. So a Jew who believes in Jesus Christ for example is no longer able to continue serving God under the Old way - being born-again signifies that one abandons the Old Way to embrace the New Way. So no longer does He obey the Old Law but instead Obeys God via the New Law, Jesus Christ. undecided

Now to the part about righteousness, the only way to fulfill God's requirement in the Old Covenant, and gain the promise of Long life in the land of Israel after the resurrection - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20 - each Jew was required to live and die in righteousness. in keeping with God's Old Law, Jesus Christ lived and died a righteous man by the Old Covenant standard, This He did so His fulfillment could be imparted to all the Jewish sinners who would chose to believe I'm Him in order to release them from the obligation of the Old Law, so they could follow the New Law instead. So, Jesus Christ's righteousness indeed ended the reign of the Old Law over those who chose to believe in Hiim. undecided

Also very important to realize here is that much of what Paul opined has to do with Jewish Christians who were the primary audience as far as his letters.. not those of us of gentile birth. undecided

No, it applies to us too. Though we didn't have an old covenant but we are part of the family of God through faith in the finished work of Christ.

This is why Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian church.

Ephesians 2:11-18
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past GENTILES IN THE FLESH, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and STRANGERS FROM THE COVENANTS OF PROMISE, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having ABOLISHED IN HIS FLESH THE ENMITY, even the LAW OF COMMANDMENTS contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might RECONCILE BOTH UNTO GOD in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

This passage reveals the following.

1. Apostle Paul reminded the church in Ephesus that they were Gentiles in the flesh.

2. That they were never part of the covenant of promise which God had with Isreal.

3. That the wall separating the Jews and the Gentiles have been broken.

4. He identified this wall as the law of commandments given to the Jews which he called the enmity.

5. He said that this law has been abolished

6. He said now that two separate race, the Jews and the Gentiles have been made one in Christ.

7. He concluded that we all have access to the Father by one spirit.

Matthew 24:15 which reads;

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understandsmiley

It's part of the future event that will befall the nation of the Jew and will trigger the greatest tribulation the Jews has ever experienced.

Like I said before, they are still awaiting their Messiah. And he will come in the future after the anti Christ will be revealed.

The anti Christ is identified as the first beast in Revelation, Chapter 13. He has ten horns which represents a confederalism of ten European states where he will rule from. The headquarter will be in Rome. He will be the new world ruler in that era. And that will be the seventh and last notable kingdom of world on earth.

The second beast in Revelation, 13 is the false Prophet or the false Christ which the Jews will accept as the long awaited Messiah. He will sign a seven years peace treaty with the anti Christ. But after three and a half years, he will erect an image of the anti Christ in the temple of God and force everyone on earth to worship this image.

It is at this point that the Jews blindness will be removed and they will know that they have been deceived. And they will refuse to worship the image because of what the commandment says.

It is at this point that their persecution of the Jews will start. Hence Jesus said;

Matthew 24:21-22
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

The image is erected in the temple of God is an abomination. The desolation talks about the destruction that will take place in Jerusalem and the entire Isreal because of the persecution.

It is at this point that they will believe that Jesus is indeed the true Messiah and they will cry out for help. But so many false prophets in their days will take advantage of their fears and make wrong prophecies. So, Jesus said:

Matthew 24:23-24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

But Jesus will eventually come back in the midst of the great tribulation and make war with the beast and the false Prophet. After he defeats them, he will establish the millennium reign on earth.
