I bought three mudu of rice at a weekly market last Friday. As I wanted to cook the rice yesterday I noticed it smelled like animal shit though it looked neat, so I went ahead to boil the thing hoping the stench should wear off. Unfortunately after the whole boiling the rice still tasted like dung.

What could be the cause of this stench, and are there health hazards if I continue to consume the rice?

There's probably nothing wrong with the rice.
Some rice dey get bad smell naturally.

When next you want to cook the rice, start by parboiling (by pouring the rice into already boiling water and allow to boil for like 10-15 mins), sieve out the starchy rice water, rinse rice with cold water 2-3 times(till the water is clear), then proceed to cook your rice.
