Dear Student! Here's How You Can Learn Any Skill From Scratch The Smart Way by studentpreneur: 7:37pm On May 03, 2022
If you're like most undergraduates at home, you're probably folding hands, checking your calendar every day, praying ASUU calls off the strike.

But if you're like the few smart brains, you'd accept the fact that they don't care about your future and use your blood and sweat to make sure your time at home is not wasted.

The easiest way to do that is by picking up a skill and mastering it.

If you're lost as to what skill to go for, this old post of mine will help you

https://www.nairaland.com/7086364/what-skill-currently-learning-fetch

Now. How can you learn and master a skill the right way?

1. EXHAUST FREE RESOURCES

Google is your friend. Once you've chosen a skill you'd love to learn, visit www.google.com and feast on every free resource you can find.

This could be free e-books, blog posts, free webinars, etc.

Don't forget YouTube. You'd easily understand the premise of any skill by just searching it up on www.youtube.com.

Another trick I've found helpful is social media. Once you've chosen that skill, identify experts in the game. For instance, if you chose sales & marketing, you'd want to follow Ronald Nzimora or Toyin Omotoso on Twitter.

How does that help? You'd gain access to their wisdom for free and will be able to fine tune what pops up on your feed to match the skill you're learning.

2. PRACTISE. PRACTISE. PRACTISE.

Now you've gained some footing, your next move is to apply the little you've learnt no matter how small.

For instance, if you wanted to learn content writing, you should make an attempt to create articles or blog posts of your own after consuming free resources on how to go about it.

Knowledge has no value if it doesn't birth action.

3. EXPLORE PAID TRAININGS

Yes. Free stuff is limited. You'd never master any skill fast enough if you YouTube it all day long.

Why? Paid trainings come with better guidance and information that you may not find for free.

For instance, if you want to learn copywriting. A paid training will often come with sales scripts you can easily replicate and even a support group to keep you on track.

No free training will answer every challenge you'd face when learning a skill.

You can check out these websites for courses.

Udemy
I've paid for courses on this website, from as little as N5,000 to as high as N10,000. It's trusted and has millions of people learning online daily.

There are other trainings offered by Nigerian experts that I can vouch for but can't share here. If you're curious to know them, let me know in the comments.

If you can't invest money to learn a skill, go do something else.

4. REINFORCE YOUR MINDSET

You've got to think different. Like a millionaire and not a poor church-rat.

When your friends are wasting time on movies, you should be working tirelessly to master your skill of choice.

Why? Because it can potentially earn you more money than the job your degree will provide.

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
The Millionaire Booklet: How to Get Super Rich by Grant Cardone

Or any other book on mindset from a reliable author.

So. That's a wrap. I can't answer every question here, but that is what the comment section is for.

If you found this helpful, let me know. If you have any question, I'd love to help. Cheers to a better brighter YOU!
