Good Evening. Whenever I save any file on my system, be it in the “Documents Folder”, or on the “Desktop” space, or even if I create a new folder directly inside the “Local Disk - C” Drive space and save the file there, once I put the system off and put it on again, everything I saved on the system would just be wiped off, and I won't see them again.. Even if I run a search for such files on the whole of the system, I won't see any traces that such files existed on the system, not even in the recycle bin. (Although, any files that I deleted by myself before I put the system off would still be there in the recycle bin). .. .. NOTE: I don't have the Deep-Freeze Software on my system. .. .. I also discovered something else... .. When I clicked on the “Users” folder inside the LOCAL DISK Folder, I discovered that a new temporary “User” folder is always created for me whenever I sign-in, and that the current temporary “user” folder, which stands for the user that is currently signed-in, is the only folder that contains readable items... All other earlier numerous temporary “user” folders, which represented all those times that I logged in earlier (which had wiped out), all contained encrypted files which cannot be opened by any app or software, and they are saved in hidden folders inside those earlier temporary “user” folders. .. Please, is there any way I can correct this anomaly?? |

If it's creating a user folder on its own, it's obviously a Trojan. Might need to format the whole system. Sad. 12 Likes |

Is it a company or office laptop? Are you the main administrator of the laptop? Are you sure that you aren't using a guest profile? It could also be a virus. Meanwhile I have over 11 TB of PC games. https://www.nairaland.com/1035742/garnet-pc-games-sale-cheapest 3 Likes |

BluntCrazeMan: It is not a religion that you should believe in. You too reason am. Shey normal sys dey behave that way? Format everything. If possible reinstall a fresh copy. Stop collecting movies from people. If its not from a verifiable name, dont install. I know for sure that you are not using a MacBook. This wont happen on an apple system. What's the model of your laptop? There's something called "deep freeze" in some laptop models.. Maybe yours has it and you might have activated it mistakenly. 7 Likes |

@BluntCrazeMan: You're currently logged-in using a temporary profile apparently. (Your windows notification bar should be showing you that) Whatever you save will of course not live beyond that current log-on session. They will be deleted once you shut down. FIX: If it's a non-domain computer, (I mean your own personal machine that isn't joined to Active Directory on any corporate domain), the first and most elementary step would be to log in in "Safe Mode" and then shut down the PC (don't restart). Put it back on and then log in normally to see it it ceases to register a temporary profile for you. If that doesn't work, try to change your sign-in method. (Try PIN for instance instead of a password). If the preceding steps don't work, then search for and launch "regedit.msc" from the search bar on your desktop, right-click and run it as an Administrator and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionProfileList"., Once there, check for a folder bearing '"ProfileImagePath" directing to "C:\Users" and completely yank it off. (I assume you have only one profile besides the default local admin account) NB: If your PC is on a corporate domain (and joined to AD), contact your Windows Server Administrator. It should take him/her less than a minute to fix that. (by just disabling and re-enabling the account) One of these should fix your issue if there's no village intervention. 28 Likes 4 Shares |
