Let's deeply analyse the APC’s game on the number of aspirants who purchased the N100m Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
..
The new Electoral Act had stipulated that the parties should submit their statements of accounts before the commencement of the campaigns, and then, after the elections; and they should also submit the party‘s income-and-expenditures reports as well.
..
Also, the Electoral Act pegged the maximum amount an individual and/or a group of people and/or an association/organisation can donate to either an aspirant/candidate or to a party.

So, they are pumping-in their personal donations now into the party in form of purchasing the forms.
So that their statements of accounts would appear legit in the end.

If the statement of accounts didn't coincide with the income-and-expenditures reports, then they are in for some serious electoral-misconduct cases.
And they are trying to avoid such cases right from the onset.

This is a very insignificant consideration of what’s going on now. There’s a bigger political game being played. Don’t make statements on what you don’t know anything about.

I strongly agree that this is a mere donation exercise, why would someone like Amosun, Fayemi, Tunde Bakare and others buy the form when many of them have no structure even in their states talk less of national.

I knew something is not right with these 'donations', oh sorry form purchase.

I hope we get it right in 2023

I have being thinking along this line of thoughts, the number of aspirants is crazy and the political closeness of people picking it form whether directly or indirectly is becoming more like support than betrayal.

I agree with this. I also think there's an attempt to elect their candidate using the rare method of "consensus of the majority" where the candidate will emerge through a consensus of majority of the presidential candidates. So on the day of the primaries, only two candidates will contest, but delegates would be told who the consensus of the majority candidates is, and the delegates would then using a voice vote of yay! or nay! to approve the presidential candidate of the APC.

The idea is to amass a following and gain pockets of supporters and in the end they withdraw and ask their supporters to support the agreed candidate. The combination of supporters from different candidates creates a huge support base for the agreed candidate. They in turn get juicy positions, party favours and some good financial returns for stepping down. The higher the number of candidates, the higher the potential support base when they combine to support the agreed candidate and a significantly increased chance of winning. Nigerian political strategy 101.
