The Mysterious Cave by Ikeoriko(m): 10:53am On May 14, 2022
There is a cave in my village called Iyi Aku which loosely translates to Aku Spring. It is located at Nkalagu Obukpa in Igbo Eze South local government area of Enugu State.
The cave has a small gateway where it is believed hunters pass through to go to a mysterious land where there are abundant animals of various kinds; such as antelope, deer, grasscutter and other species of rodents. It is believed that the goddess of the cave does give the hunters the privilage to catch as many animals as possible but on one condition which is: that you must drop one of those animals caught at the threshold of the gateway before coming out of the cave, which is a form of tithe. Failure to do so will result in your loss of sense of direction such that you will not find your way out of the cave. You will be a perpetual wonderer in the land of the spirits. Many great hunters were believed to have went missing owing to their refusal to do the needful before exiting the cave.
The cave is indeed mysterious.
