hefty lie

Bros no be lie o.
Someone once said he bought a Toyota corolla #800k (OR there about) some years ago and after using it for about 3 to 4 years, he sold it for a price in the range of million. That is to say the value of the car increased with time even after using it for years.

When you consider the exchange rate and also the high demand for that particular car brand/type, you will know what's up.

I used to like that car until it disappointed me during a long trip, spent time fixing it at intervals. I have gone far, so it couldn't be changed into another car for the trip.

Only problems, rust on the right rear fender and airbag light is on.

Let's assume your total cost of purchase is $3000
Shipping :$1100
Clearing: $1000

Grand total: $5100

That's almost N3 million.

Then add miscellaneous expenses...

I hope you see where this is going.

Im not in doubt of anything...im not saying dealera domt change odometer...u people are just condescending....
U dont know what started this argument..
I said 300k millage is high in the nigerian car market .dude is telling me all cars at 2005 has to be that high...

And i said thats fallacy...not just becos he doesnt have proof for what hes saying but becos ive bought a tokunbo car my self...not from dealer, i shipped it in...the millage was 169k...and its a 2005 eod..
Yes I understand and agree with you but how are you sure that the odometer of the 2005 car you bought has not being fraudulently adjusted?
Between I understand what started the argument I was following, that is the reason why I said it could be a mix up from him.

the average Canadian drives 15k mileage a year. Which is over 250k assuming it was bought in 2005. But what we see in lagos as toks will be 70k milleage

This statistics is based on wild assumptions.
Nobody drives 365 days a year.
Nobody drives same car for 15 years. They may have 2 cars, use bus, take Uber, ride with friends.
And there are tons of cars with less than 50k miles and 15 years old.
A quick search in cars.com with min and max year of 2005 has 20 cars under. See image

Don't say what you don't know.

You might be buying from a third party, I'm buying directly from the owner that don't need it anymore.

I'm not always in a rush to buy. I wait for calls from my elder brother who's in Canada and sometimes from my younger brother in USA who just completed his Masters.

Same way you get distress sales here in 9ja, that's how you get it over there.

I'm not saying I buy only Corolla.
grin

Never done MAJOR accident car before.
Don't have time with panel beaters and mechanics. But I will never go to Apapa again!!!!!!
Minor bashes kiss

You are just using statistics to paint your picture as you want it. But that doesn't make it factual as you want everyone to believe.

Yes there are 2005 cars with 100k miles, as there are 2005 cars with 50k miles.

have you imported a car to Nigeria or know people who do To make money in the business you have to do mago mago, buy accidented cheap cars and repair in Nigeria or reverse odometer to command more money. It’s common sense biko

That's not true. I have never imported a car, but I don't have to import a car before I know what's right.
There are millions of Nigerians that do business without doing mago mago. I am one of them. I disagree with you people have to do that to make money.
Common sense is people doing things the right way. It should still be so tomorrow.
Buying an accidented car and repairing it is not wrong. Even in the US, people repair cars and drive or resell them. That's why they have Salvage Titles.

mr man you are delusional or deluded. If you dont do mago mago in that business of car importation you will fail. I bought camry big daddy in 2016 and later found out it was accidental and had salvaged title. You think the seller will tell me Joke

You lack the temperament to engage people in public in simple discussion. Work on yourself a bit more.
You can't abuse people in public
You should also not do mago mago to make a living.

You have left wild assumptions and fake statistics to insults.

Many Nigerian buyers don't like the truth and full disclosure. Unfortunately they prefer the lies. That's the irony of this business.
