FACTS ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN.

1. It's the first and best University in Nigeria.

2. UI conduct Post UTME.

3. You must score at least 200 in JAMB to be eligible for the Post UTME.

4. UI admission is the most transparent.

5. The exam comprises 100 questions, 25 question per subject (4 UTME subjects) for 90mins.

6. Each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking.

7. The post UTME form is #2,500 and it's paper based test (PBT), Only HB pencil and eraser is allowed.

8. UI ranks as one of the most affordable Universities in Nigeria. Ranging from 70K- 80K as a fresher, and 30K - 40K depending on your course of study.

9. The course MBBS is course with the highest slot of admission. About 200 - 150.

10. UI post UTME is a combination of JAMB PQ and UI 100LV PQ.

11. MYTH

UI is not biased in it's admission, as it's the first University, therefore it gives equal chances to all Nigerians.

TRUTH
UI have a special Cut Off mark, usually ~-4 from the merit cut off for students from Education less privileges state, I.e Sokoto, Adamawa, etc.

12. UI post UTME is written only in UI, and accommodation is not provided.

13. Anyone who get less than 50 in the Post UTME is disqualified for admission.

14. 50% of your UTME 400/8 (I.e 320/8 = 40) and 50% of your post UTME 100/2 (I.e 80/2 = 40 summed up 40 + 40 = 80%, equals your aggregate score.

15. Aside meeting the cut off, you must have at least 5 credits in your relevants O'level subjects.

16. UI don't release post UTME past question but practice question (100 per subject), of which they take at least 5 questions from. About 50% of the total question are past questions.

17. Calculator is not allowed in UI post UTME.

1. It happens to be the first indigenous UNIVERSITY after Independence.
2. It's Current Vice Chancellor was a graduate of Soil Science, Prof Charles Arinzechukwu.
(Life's isn't all about Medicine, Pharmacy or Dentistry ☺)
3. To give every prospective aspirant a fair chance in the admission struggle, UNN has over the years conducted it's post utme since 2005, excepting 2016 when it was scrapped by the then Ministry of Education.
(Aspirants please you need to buckle down, you might write it later next year)
4. You must score atleast 180 to be eligible for the post utme exam.
(Subject to change, Although it was reduced to 160 last session due to mass failure)
5. The Merit list is the only TRANSPARENT admission list.
Do all they can to get a slot THERE Ei get why !?
6. The exam comprises 17 questions to answer any 15 for each four utme subjects, making each question 6.67 mark(approx 7).
7. The post utme form has always been slated at N2000 in previous years and it is liable to change come next session.
9. UNN ranks as ONE of the most affordable schools in the Southeast immediately behind UNICAL, UNIUYO and AE FUNAL ranging from 70-80K for freshers while other years at 45-60k depending on your course of study.

10. The faculty of Dentistry and Dental Surgery happens to be the 3rd in order of the least admitted Students immediately after the Department of Foreign and African Languages.

11. As you must have known already, UNN post utme is purely jamb past questions, EXCEPT on rare cases where a few new Questions are set.
Master your O'LEVEL and utme past questions and you'll see yourself ACE in the exams.
12. MYTH.
UNN is biased in it's admission quota, IT admits only igbos neglecting the Westerners and Northerners.
TRUTH. Many Igbos, who knowing how low the cutoffs for these aforementioned regions are, now change their State of Origin. Little wonder why Ikemefuna A.Z at the clearance date will poses the LGA identification of BIU in Borno when he's actually a native of Orlu in Imo state.
(You now see where the corruption started
IN MOST CASES THEY GO AWAY WITH IT WITHOUT BEING CAUGHT ! (Let's leave them at the MERCY of the great Judge )
13. The school usually makes available accomodations for post utme candidates at a no more than N1500 cost, Although it's not difficult finding who to squat you during the exams.
14. Visiting Nsukka without tasting "Okpa" is like getting admitted into the university without taking any entrance examination.
The two are INSEPARABLE.
15. The Faculty of Law, College of Medicine and a few others are housed in the Enugu campus while the others at the Nsukka Campus.
(Medical Students take their Premedical courses at the Nsukka Campus before proceeding for their Preclinicals at the College of Medicinel Those who succeed in their 2MB exams further proceed to UNTH in a small town called Ituku)

1. Cost of studying
This is an important criterion when choosing an institution. You get to screen different schools based on the whole cost. If you can afford it, then the institution has successfully qualified for the next factor which is…

Few institutions wouldn’t make it here. Choosing a school that suits your kind of location depends on you. You can easily ask yourself, do you want a rural area or an urban area. If you can answer this, then you’ve got some institution eliminated.


3. Is the institution safe?
In all we do, our safety is very important. This is also very important when choosing a school. Over the years, the increase in crime cannot be overlooked, even some school campuses are not safe. When making a choice, make sure you select the ones that care about students’ safety. Ok? Ok!


4. Avoid Institution that wastes time
You know, this factor is very important, don’t make that mistake the older ones have made. When considering an institution, you should make your research on the number of months spent on an academic calendar. You should look carefully to avoid using a whole year for an academic session. You can ask yourself, are you ready to spend more time, energy and money just to get a degree? You can consult older ones to make your decision here. Clear? Clear!

5. Extracurricular activities

If you are the kind of person that gets bored with academics and you have other curricular activities that keep you going. You should consider this too when choosing a school. If you are involved in sports, theatre, dance, art or any other interesting extracurricular activities and you are committed to it and would love to continue in your institution. You should check for an institution that has any of them available. You should make your research. You can check if they have sports teams. Art facilities to explore your artistry. Whatever you are interested in, make sure the school you are choosing can satisfy those interests.

The above list should get you started, you may have other factors that matter to you. With so many institutions that you might be considering, you are likely to get that one institution that meets all your criteria. Take your time, do your research, ask questions.
