Most of us operate 2-4 bank accounts, while we use one for day to day cash transactions, there is this one we tend to stash in money and leave it untouched for a period of time. With the way people die in this country, I strongly believe most if not all (especially the elderly ones) have a bank account no one knows anything about. My question is, what happens to this monies left by the deceased? Can banks identify the account of these dead people? |

If deceased's family members have his/her BVN, they should be able to know all the accounts linked to the BVN. And they can go to court and get a bank subpoena for the details of those accounts. 1 Like |

Probate is the legal and financial process of dealing with the property, money and possessions of a person who has died. It is a long and complicated process. The Executor of a Will, or Personal Representative when there is no Will, applies to the court for a Grant of Probate. |
