Went with a friend to do the police clearance at Alagbon, I must tell you, the experience was a bad one. We got there by 10am and left 8pm on 5th of July, 2020. The struggle was real like that you face at passport immigration offices or NIN.
First, you apply online at possap.gov.ng fill in your details, upload you passport photograph and bio data page of your Nigerian passport then you proceed to pay, you can pay with your card. From there you go for capturing, that's where the wahala starts.

What's the current validity of the Police Certificate? Did they change it?

Current validity is 3 months from the day of issuance.

Eventually, I called a friend of mine in Police State CID in Port Harcourt. He told to come over to the office and directed me to a business center opposite the State CID. I made my online application and payment within 15mins and got my online receipt and sms immediately. I had to pay N1500 to the business center for the job and another N500 for POS. I can confirm that N30k I paid online is just for Police Head quarters in Abuja. My friend said I should prepare around 20k for biometric.... invitation will be sent via sms after three days. So generally, it will cost N100k to obtain Police Character certificate (PCC). Something that was obtainable with N10k early this year. The big Boyz in Abuja want to Cash out on all of us that want to Japan! Nigeria we hail thee!

I have captured after one week of submission online but I had to pay additional 20k. Same with others who came as well. They made it non-negotiable in PHC. We had no choice. My PCC came out later in the evening of same day. Painful part is that it's valid for only 3 months.

Please does the new certificate come with fingerprints? Mine did not have fingerprints attached and I am worried if it’s valid at the US embassy. Somebody should answer me please.

Good morning, I applied for the police character certificate online, the necessary form have been filled and the payment done, but am yet to be called for biometrics and it has taken up to one week. Please ur advice is needed on what next to do

Are you using it outside the country or within?

It doesn't come with finger prints, you will be given a certificate without finger prints on it.

CONFLICTING INFORMATION: Please, which is true? Someone told me he got the old character certificate which comes with fingerprints but it was rejected by the embassy and that the embassies only now accept the new digital one whereas another person told me he got the new online character certificate which does not come with fingerprints and it was rejected. I went to the state command in Adamawa and the police in charge of fingerprints said the old one is still very valid and that it is only about three countries which accepts the new online certificate.

What is actually the true situation of this new online police character certificate? Please, share your experience and let us be clear about this

Bro how long did it take via the online application for the certificate to get to you

The new one doesn't have fingerprints but BIometrics is taken at the division that your choose during the application online.

I didn't go to Lagos. I was only given a form to fill, the form has many spaces for fingerprints. I did mine in Portharcourt & it took only 3 working days. I payed N50,000.

Got mine for around 40K last week!
