A Catholic priest, Father Kelvin Ugwu has reacted to the presence of some bishops at the unveiling of former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Father Ugwu also spoke on the decision of the ‘clerics’ to wear the robe which is called ‘Stole’ to the unveiling of the APC vice presidential candidate.

According to Ugwu, the ‘Stole’ which is worn by Roman Catholic deacons, priests, and bishops cannot be worn to any political meetings or function that is not liturgical.

The cleric stated this in a post on his Facebook account following the picture and videos of some bishops at the event organized by the ruling party on Wednesday.

Ugwu wrote, “The Stole is worn by Priests, Deacons and Bishops."

“The Stole is worn only during the celebration of sacraments or blessing of sacramentals. The stole is not worn when attending a political meeting or function that is not liturgical."

“It is a strip of material that is embroidered with different designs or just a simple cross. There are different colours and they vary concerning the liturgical season or feast day."

“It is the most important vestment because it signifies authority. This is why, even in the absence of other vestments due to some reason(s), the priest can celebrate the mass just with the Stole alone.”

This was where APC people goofed big time, had it been they said pastors that won't have raised much dust, but using Rev Fr that's where they exposed themselves, because every Catholic knows that one, chasubles are only won doing Mass. They have not started but has started by deceiving people already.
