Since albert Einstein was aware of the creation of the atomic/nuclear bomb, he knew in full the ability of the atomic bomb as he was responsible for providing the formula for the energy an atomic bomb could release.

Einstein knows that a full blown war would result in total annihilation of human race and all living things.

His religiouslessness i believe prompted him to speak of the new cycle of life which is similar to the beginning of mankind,where stick and stones was the major weapon

After the 3rd world war, the devastation and destruction of the earth and all it's man made properties would be so cataclysmic and whatever will be left of mankind will continue the unstoppable habit of more war and destruction (just as we have had uncountable wars since 1945) till there wouldn't be any weapons to fight with in the 4th world war.
