This is a blatant lie.... Mr CMD is embezzling money...there's no way you can tell me you are consuming 2million naira worth of diesel per day.....

And to everyone lending credence to this bogus corruption laden claims,we know una type..

Stop talking stories and do the calculations. Numbers do not lie.

let's assume they are using a 500kva generator which is massive and unlikely, the hourly consumption is 75ltrs and 24 hrs is 1800 ltrs, which is also unlikely it will run for 24 hrs,so you are right if you smell a scam, the highest they can use there is 200-250kva generator, that director is the prime example of what is wrong with nigeria,he could simply reduce the wastage by 50-60% by running the bigger gen for 12 hrs during working hours at peak demand which will cost 900 ltrs@#850/ltr will be roughly #770k,he will then use a smaller 60kva gen at off peak demand period for 12 hrs at night just for lights and emergency which will cost 216ltrs@#850/ltrs is #184k,the total which will be #29 million monthly saving him #32 million every month.he should think out of the box.

A Teaching hospital cannot use a 250KVA gen. That is grossly underdimensioned.

A small 1-storey building office I frequent without any major equipment uses a 220KVA.

Also, is been said that grid power is all but absent in Maiduguri

Explain more what kind of independent power are you talking of?
At least some key sections of the hospital can be on solar. Maternity, morgue, surgery. Admin. Diesel will be used incase of emergency. It won't cost 800m

When you read comments here you will understand how DOCILE an average NIGERIAN is
How on Earth will those guys budget #2m daily for diesel.were they powering the whole community?
Aside docility, understanding of maths and applying it daily is very hard for most Nigerians, even graduates. Especially with the proliferation of magic exam centres. Anything beyond counting money and some basic measurements, most can't do it.

Fact is that in 9ja, people capitalise on every opportunity to embezzle public money. It's all lizards lie prostrate. Hard to trust anyone.

He said 5 generators
100 litres each can run 24hra for all of them Sir
500 litres daily

Oga. 100 litres cannot run a 60/80KVA generator under full load for 24 hours, not to talk bigger generators.

Also consider that the generators may not be new, thereby fuel consumption may be higher.

True! In my estate we use a 100kva gen and it uses 10litres per hour, so that would be 240 litres in a day. A hospital would probably need a 1000kva gen, which might use like 50 litres per hour.

the issue here is the absence of a properly calibrated fuel storage system. nothing more. The massive losses are due to stealing

all they need is a properly calibrated central storage tank, and an ATG [automated tank guaging system], and a clear chain of accountability

if they are actually sincere about cutting down operating costs, this will immediately plug any leaks. in most places where ATG has been deployed in the past, people have been sacked or arrested, because the volume of theft immediately becomes obvious.

however, this is a government organization, and they may prefer to keep issuing excuses rather than solutions

fuel metering is essential for any commercial enterprise, particularly one that uses diesel.

Price of diesel has increased

Teaching hospitals need to have 24/7 light supply
Could be true

Also Maiduguri has been in darkness since last year, so NEPA is out of it

Y do u have brains?

The amount spent since January 2021 would have built a mega solar power that can supply the entire Maiduguri with so much sunshine in the region but my brothers from the North prefer buying diesel so that they can chop from it and their families and friends.
.

Keep quiet. You are saying what you don't know. Solar can't power some machines. If not, Europe leading Renewable energy renewable won't be in crisis by now.

100 litres each on each generator will run 24hrs
500 litres daily
500"800= 400,000
400,000*32=12million monthly
So average of 7-12 mill bro

In my initial comment I said more than 5,so it's definitely more and you should note that a teaching hospital is a school and a hospital at the same time and there are different generators powering every part of the premises and you made your calculations as ifthey go to the filling stations to buy the diesel themselves, the diesel gets supplied by diesel tankers and its another cost, the technicians would be paid for every supply made,so if you calculate all this gross expenses,I could add up

SO GUYS I LATER MADE ENQUIRY FROM THE HOSPITAL,WHAT THEY MEANT WAS THAT EACH MONTH ONE TANKER OF DIESEL IS PAID FOR .... WHICH IS BETWEEN 40-45 MILLION

There is off grid energy from solar and biogradable materials like kernel shell.

Federal government needs to run these institutions as PPP arrangement if not these evil Nigerians will run it aground.

Had this been a state government institution, I trust Babagana Zulum to have moved in and probed the CMD.

it will probably double the cost on charges which many of the patients wont be able to afford.

Averagely 500 litres runs 24hrs .....so 7million monthly is okay abeg

This 500 liters for 24 hours is just for one generator set oh, atleast a teaching hospital needs like 5 set of generators to power the school and the hospital combined. Making it 2500 liters of diesel per day, don't forget about the maintenance and servicing oh,even the engine oil is now times 3 of old price.
