It's still leadership sir. People don't lead themselves. Masses don't make decisive policies.

As at today, how many African leaders can you beat your chest about apart from Rwandan and Kenyan presidents?!!

No be political leadership dey change country, na inventors, great thinkers and achiever's.

Mack zuck for eg has created more impact in the world than 98% of all the politicians combined.

African nation's are behind, cos we lack innovators, creative thinkers and great achiever's.

Polictians contribute less to national dev. It's just a cermonial position, a reason they refer to their polictical platforms as political parties. Na for party, party, enjoyment and fun.

Nice to meet u.

Leadership is not the real cause of the problem. It's deeper that that. Look around Africa, no African country is progressing. It's an African problem not a leadership or political problem.

What's wrong with puplic shools? In the dev world only the very rich send their kids to private schools, but in Nigeria it's diff.

Private sch na scam.

You're yet to mention why the problem is an African thing,
Why is private school a scam, so you prefer your kid attending a school bare seating on the floor in a classroom without chairs and furnitures, not to talk about how cultism has spread in those schools.
Your opinion seems achiac man

Nothing can best my conviction that Nigeria/Africa is dead! Dead and bite the dust decades ago.

Born an African is the worst that can ever be done to an individual.

Patriotic Africans we believe in you. But as for me and my house, "na japa o".

Honestly, I've started thinking about this vasectomy thing.

I can't with my knowledge and things my eyes have seen bring a child into this continent.

My parents were foolish doesn't mean I should be.

That's precisely my plan. I'm not going anywhere. One would think that $100K in the U.S.A is real money but by the time you pay the government like $40K in taxes, house mortgage/Apartment, meals, fuel and all, you'll realize that you've got nothing.

That is what a lot of them don't understand.

Once you start paying bills that you can't afford to miss, your eye go clear.

Dude should enter unilag and he will see devs with leetcode counts of 1200+. Japa is on everyone's mouth. Nigerian is completely doomed. Once tinubu wins the next election, complete economic collapse for the next 100 years.
This una irrational Tinubu economic doomsday theory is nonsensical.

Lagos is by far the most prosperous and industrialized state in Nigeria. One of the very few working states and the best of them.
The surplus investment and commercial prosperity is what's flowing to Ogun- the second most industrialized state in Nigeria.

Of course you can argue Lagos was prosperous before Tinubu, but you can't deny that the brain behind the sustenance of these economic prosperities, the stability and the enabling business environment in Lagos is Tinubu.

Bring your corruption, Godfatherism, drug dealing theories instead.

Just calm down. Ebola Tinubu will not win. See as people are jumping ship from APC to PDP and Labour. Worst case scenario there is a run off and either Obi or Atiku wins. SE and SS will never align with a known crook Ebola Agbadola Cassavani Tinubu.

Meanwhile, Software Engineering / Development has a great future. Even if some people dey japa, that will create more opportunities for those wey remain. I know that people are looking for opportunities to emigrate to US or Europe because starting pay for Developers/Engineers can be between $55K to over $100K. Who wouldn’t want that?

God will keep us alive till next year, come back and quote me next year after the election.

I know devs will still be in much demand even here in Nigeria, I'm just talking of the condition of living at the moment, and the possibility that things will get better. We haven't talked about the messed up security situation of the country.

So I don't plan living because of higher pay as a foreign Dev, govt taxes will still suck a whole lot of your income. I just want to leave because of peace and sanity of mind. I don't really fancy abroad like that, I may still reside in a much safer and better place here in Africa(that's if there still is)

Wonderful, didn't know some people understood this like myself. I'm almost 50 and i intentionally have only 1 child and is female. Nigeria was finished years ago, it's the north that's the problem because they are using childbirth to impoverish the whole country and no one can dare speak because they will link it to their holy book and before you say jack you have been burnt like Deborah. Even their elite that know the truth can't dare to speak otherwise they get Sanusi treatment

There is heavy brain drain right now.....

For a country as large as Nigeria, brain drain shouldn't be a source of concern. The main problem is skill shortage. We need to revisit our educational system and make it better.

The fact remains that in life, after God, it's government.
The government of a country greatly determines how a country is/will be.
How a country is determines how comfortably we worship, we start business, we do business, we travel and have leisure, even the confidence to invest.

In Myanmar, the Rohinginya Muslims don't worship easily, in China, the Buddhists of Tibet don't worship easily.

In Nigeria can't easily start a business without one illegal payment or the other.

When you talk on this forum, their stupid sycophants call you wailer or loser!

All the best brains don leave finish! No wonder there are so many quacks and charlatans in every sector you go to.

Some exceptionally good mechanics, electricians, and plumbers I know (graduates) have relocated to other nations! I kid you not.
A famous quote has said charlatans are so evenly distributed that you will find one everywhere.
So I'm not surprised some people still asslick this clueless government.

Bro, should I say u think like me or I think like u.
U have a very good point and idea. This is how I see it too.
I know there are a lot of people who want to leave Nigeria for the aim of getting a good job or better living standards and so. This makes the competition to leave high, and the demand for it too. No matter how hard most of us try or even leave, a lot of us will still remain here. And to me, that does not mean we shouldn't be trying to build ourselves here.

My point.

You actually believe Zuckerberg and others would have amounted to shit in this badly led nation?!! Please, on what grounds?!!

Is it an inventor's job to safeguard the roads and highways?!!
Will the inventors build bridges and keep the roads functional?!!!

Will they also unite their nations so that extremists like those who killed Deborah won't chop their heads off?!!

Will they be the ones to stabilize the economy such that purchase of materials needed for their research won't cost them their livers?!!

Not just the poor even if you are rich anything can happen, Nigeria has no social contract. My uncle was earning 800k lost his job and his 3 kids are suffering in the village. No food to even eat. Anything can happen. If it's him alone, it's different the family can even raise money for him to go and hustle abroad but as he has 3 kids and a wife nobody wants to put hand there.

The amount of families that have been torn apart husband/wife boyfrend/girlfriend ever since Buhari regime has come into power is mind blowing

My dad worked in one of the top companies here in Lagos, and one day back in 2016, he called us saying "Omo dem don reduce our salary oo"

Even me sef felt it...

I followed some of his junior staffs to an event and heard them lamenting as to how life is tough for them and some pple are decived because they use an official corrolla.

Buhari really spoil things baba mi.

Stop blaming the govt, in dis same govt many have made it.

Make una calm down.

Same excuses.

Hahaha.

Virtually all companies in Nigeria would have suffered decreased revenues if their Revenues are translated to Dollars Vs 2015.

Why do I say dollars? Because if an international Partner decides to do business here, that's usually one primary consideration.

The idea that one can do well against the backdrop of a failing economy is laudable but not sustainable. Your country casts a huge backdrop over one's success.

An export focused shoe company in Italy can start on the same day with another export focused Nigerian shoe company — both with the same capital BUT the Italian is already ahead (reputationally) because of the backdrop Italy creates globally as a fashion haven.

The same negative backdrop can be adduced to the Nigerian Project.
