Pariseanne I am sorry to hear about your mom but why can't your half sisters help your mother. At the very least get her into a place where she can be cared for and be made to take her medication. This is so sad. I am sorry about your feelings of abandonement but if your mother is schizophrenic maybe she just was not capable of taking care of you. Keep trying to get your papers and I hope you get them. When you get them please take care of your mother. I hope everything works out well for the both of you

@Outstrip, thanks for ur kind words. However all her kids r in nigeria and I'm the only one who has british citizenship. I will apply for a duplicate certificate of naturalization but It needs to b sent to the UK cos that's where it was issued.

I think the home office will have a copy of your naturalization certificate. It seems you were most likely born in the UK. All you have to do is take your authentic birth certificate or contact the hospital you were born in for your records. If you take this to the embassy and they verify it as authentic, you should be able to get a passport issued to you. The key is your birth certificate, which will show that you are your mother's child, and then investigations could proceed from there. It will also help you a lot more to get an immigration lawyer if you can afford it.

You can still send a request to them with your birth certificate. Hopefully your birth certificate has your mothers name, city of orgin and birth, and her date of birth on it. This information can help them verify what they have on file about her. If she truly naturalized you, a copy of your birth certificate will also be on their file. If your information is accurate, they will respond positively. You can also include some evidence of her mental instability if you have any (her address), so that the immigration officials can verify the information from her health records. Do you not have some relatives in London that can help you out? I doubt if your mother who is suffering from mental illness will be carrying around your naturalization papers. It will be a miracle if she knows where it is. It does not matter if you were born in Nigeria. Do proper research on the case, i am sure there will be a way out especially if your mother is not capable of helping you get this. But work fast, should anything happen to her before you can make progress, getting it will become a lot more difficult. I also think it would be best if you can call their home office in London and talk to someone to help you understand the whole process.

Sorry to hear about your mum's illness and your dad's demise.
I was wondering if you have been able to sort out this thing with your passport.

If you are still preggos, you can have your baby in the UK while you try to sort out your naturalisation stuff. After that, your baby will get the citizenship from you. But if you have your baby in Nigeria, the child does not become a citizen.

It might also be easier for you to get your naturalization from the UK. Once they have the proof -your birth certificate, your mother's details and a letter from her, it should be straight forward. But you might have to take the naturalization exam and all before you can apply for a passport.
You mighty know all this already.
I will like to know how you sorted it out.
