QNET Fingreen Project by Haleemahummar: 6:00pm On Aug 23, 2022
A lot of young people in Nigeria do not know how much they spend on a weekly basis. This is because they are ignorant about their finances. Financial literacy is the ability to understand and use various financial skills to make, manage, and multiply money.

This is what the QNET FinGreen Project is all about.

It is a financial literacy program that is aimed at helping young people in Nigeria achieve financial freedom. QNET carried out this project with the help of its partner organisation, Financial Literacy For All. The FinGreen Project is a financial training that teaches young people skills like employability, entrepreneurship, mindset adjustment, and financial literacy.

According to what I heard, the project launched on the 27th of June, 2022 in a big event with twenty young people in Lagos. After the training, the twenty young people were supported as Ambassadors for the FinGreen project. The youths were to train about twenty other young people in their communities on the same skills they learnt during their training. Two hundred young people have been trained already.

These trainings are happening in various locations in Lagos, like Ikeja, Ibeju-Lekki, and Ikorodu. The same trainings have also occurred in Ogun and Oyo states.

I am priviledged to be one of the QNET FinGreen ambassadors this year! I have learnt so much about financial literacy and cannot hold back my joy. To be a part of the QNET FinGreen project, you need to attend one of the community seminars. Let me explain how that works. For the first stage of the project, participants signed up through a call for participation on social media. So individuals such as youth leaders, students leaders, leaders of religious groups, NYSC members, youth trainers and even teachers can benefit from the training and also train other people. Applications are recieved and screened based on experience in training, gender balance, reason for participation, ability to recruit and train atleast twenty other youths. For the pilot phase of the QNET FinGreen project, there were 20 participants. Attendance and training is absolutely free and all participants were given a free training kit and certificate.
