Which Should Be Cheaper? Locally Produced Goods Or Imported Goods? by Yasiok(m): 7:01am On Aug 31, 2022
Reno said that the real reason why local producers went bankrupt and got out of business was because Peter Obi was importing the same commodities which the local producers were producing, but the thing that happened was that Peter Obi was selling at a cheaper price.
..
Hmmmm.
Something is very wrong here.!!
..
Which one should be cheaper in the real sense??
Is it the imported Commodity? or the Locally Produced Commodity??

Foreign goods will be cheaper because of mechanized production, cheaper labor, technological advancements and the likes.

This is why America is concerned about Chinese products.

Also why brands like Nike, Puma and the likes produce from factories in Vietnam instead of in the USA.

It took Obasanjo's banning of poultry imports before local producers could survive as imported products whose produce were cheaper were choking the local ones.

Same reason we also have rice mills, rice farms and the likes now. Because the importation has been banned and the local manufacturers can make profit. As time goes, they will be able to increase capacity and lower their prices

When you see people who haven't done a single production start talking rubbish you would know ....oga just kept shut if u don't have knowledge in the area

Nigeria have one of the cheapest labour in the world relative to Vietnam , China, India ...

Nigeria have one of the cheapest power production cost even if diesel ....

The only reason foreign products are cheaper are

1) scale of production
2) access to raw material ...Nigeria is the only country where government frustrate your production by denying you access to raw material ...this is the only country where customs would hold your fabrics but allow finished cloths to be imported
3) lack of shared infrastructure
4) this is arguably the most important lack of access to credit
5) lack of effective distribution network
6) lack of functioning of adjunct industries

Most of this are government responsibility ..instead to you blame importers just like with rice lol ....

No body would import when it's cheaper and more profitable to produce here
