The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered to accept and publish the name of Godswill Akpabio as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Akwa Ibom North/West senatorial district in 2023.

According to TheNation, a Federal High Court in Abuja gave the order on Thursday.

Justice Emeka Nwite, in a judgment on Thursday, held that INEC acted illegally for refusing to accept and publish
Akpabio’s name even when it was sent to it by the APC as its candidate.

The Court re-iterated that INEC has no right to disqualify anybody. It is the rights of the Court so even if the person did not participate in the Primaries and the Party sends his or her name. Accept and publish, let the aggrieved go to Court.

No, not yet but submissions have been taken since July. They were also in Court last week but it has been adjourned for judgement I think...

Akpabio/APC won this case because they must have told the court that they submitted Akpabio's name but INEC refused to accept it, which in its merit seem like Akpabio is right. The other (real) guy will now asked to be joined with INEC in this suit and then appeal.
