It is very important for your building foundation to be on the right level. In the video, I explain that the foundation for your structure is determined by the general topography/elevation of the surrounding area your structure.

It is important for your building to have a high foundation to enable water drain out of your site. If your building have a low foundation, your building could be unsafe or affected during torrential rain or in the event of flood.

Generally, the nearest road to your site is used as a benchmark when determining your ideal foundation level. About 200-300 mm should be added to the road level to determine your foundation level.

Nature ground level(NGL) should be observed thus an elevation of about 300mm should be added to the foundation level so as to safeguard your building from water flows.

Yeah, you are right. It is important to note that Nigeria have a poor drainage system, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
