So this happened in 2006 in PortHarcourt while the “de bam and de well” cult groups held sway in Rivers state. No thanks to politics of evil.

I was 20 years old then and I just got my first phone gift from my dad that costed 9,000 naira then. I was very happy to have my own phone and my friends were very happy for me too

I was prepping to go for the post UME exams so needed to seek guidance from a senior friend of mine who lived not to far from mine. We planned to meet at 9:30 pm that faithful day so I set out at 9:00 pm to his. While I was making this trip on foot to his house, somewhere around Rumuomasi, two guys beckoned at me to come to a corner so I thought they were gonna be asking for direction from me. When I got close to them, one of them pointed a gun at me and asked me to bring out my phone. I wanted to resist the urge to hand my phone over but they shouted saying you think we are playing? He used the gun to touch my skin and it was dead cold (I say oh boy the gun na real oo). I hurriedly handed my phone over to them and they said “oya begin Dey go and no look back oo”.

I was like waoo my sweet sexy phone wey Dey make babes trip for me is gone just like that. What will I tell my father now. My papa wey be soldier. I felt sad and confused.I no even ask for my sim card sef. Chai.

I got to my friend’s house and told him what happened to me and pleaded with him to organize boys so we can go collect my phone. He asked me “them hold gun”? I said yes they had a gun. Him say bros just forget that your fine phone don go. I say na wa ooooo. It’s alright God Dey.

On my return home some minutes later that same night, I walked through the same road but in the opposite direction this time. When I got to the area my phone was collected from me earlier, I saw these two guys strolling down too.

I then said to myself “nigga, shey you know say one day na one day and when the time come you go still die Abi? I said yes that’s true. Even if na this night or 100 years from now, all die na die abi? I said yes. So why not damn it all and go for your phone because your papa def fit want kill you when you reach house. But how I want take do am? Them be two and I be one and them hold kala Join body. I then decided that I will approach the guys and see what happens.

When they got close to me, I shouted to them saying “bros them, I beg make we relate” this time around na me carry them enter one dark corner then we sat down by a culvert with me in their middle. Na so I start.

I say shey Una be from Niger Delta Abi? Una be Rivers boys abi? Me too I from Niger Delta just like Una. We be all Niger Delta and as Una collect my phone so e good? Watin me I go come use as Una don carry my own still show me gun? If we wey be brothers Dey steal from ourselves, how would outsiders see us? As e be now, I need Una to give me back my phone so that peace go reign make we all just go our separate ways.

The guys said ok bros as you talk to us e make sense and we go give you your phone. That was how they handed my phone back to me and we shock hands with smiles. I was so happy � going back home that night. My friends never believed me till date even when I gave testimony in my church.

I don’t know what gave me that confidence to talk armed men into giving my phone back to me but in all, na God be the ultimate as all powers belong to Him.

Na soldier pikin I be and I was proud of me.

Just 2 years before then, some guys wound up me, my dad and my kid bro at Elenlenwo at 6am while we were coming back from a vigils and collected my dad’s phone at gun point. I almost fought them but my dad asked me to chill that it was not worth it. They shut the gun in the air though and I was mad that young boys could just collect my dad’s phone while I was there. Me sef I been no dey gree those days ooo. Though I no belong but my natural looks are that of a guy that belongs.

Naso them confuse then I said I'm an Okrika boy and if den try am choba go burn(if you stayed in ph you'll understand that people fear Okrika boys like mad,even cult war no dey reach that side)..That was how they left me and an eternal enemy was formed since 2007 till this year(though one is dead)..I even saw both boys recently
