Nigerian Lecturer Gives Students $100 Each for Attending His First Class After ASUU Strike in a Popular University

According to allegations, a lecturer at the University of Ibadan gave incentives to those who attended his first class after the start of the new semester.

Pupils were shocked when Dr. Bisi Olawuyi, a university lecturer, paid each of the few students that attended his presentation $100.

Remember that higher education institutions have already asked students to return for academic activities after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) recently put off its eight-month-old strike.

The union went on strike to demand that the agreements it had made with the Federal Government a few years prior be fully implemented.

The art department lecturer reportedly called for lectures but found barely 10 students in the room when he arrived.

He then gave each of them $100, and they decided to document the unusually unexpected moment by taking pictures.

An absentee student expressed regret at losing out on the monetary incentives.

”So… today that I didn’t go to class… Dr Bisi shared 100 dollar notes to everyone who came to class… whyyy,” the caption read.

A Twitter user who shared photos on the microblogging site, wrote; ‘‘Ọmọ, one lecturer for art at the University of Ìbàdàn give 10 students who attended his first class 100 dollars each.

However, in a later development on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the lecturer dismissed the claim as false and advised Nigerians to disregard it.
