National Mandate Group, NNP, a flagship organ under the leadership of Oloye Jumoke Akinjide in support of Atiku Abubakar, has berated the endorsement of Bola Tinubu by ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that Makinde, represented by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, had, at an Akure meeting of Yoruba leaders, said they would support a southerner to become Nigeria’s next president.

But in a statement Thursday morning, the Oyo state chapter of NNP, made up of PDP leaders and members, said “First and Foremost, We appreciate the good people of Oyo State for considering our Party, the PDP, as the best option and voting for our candidates in both the gubernatorial and the presidential elections in 2019, and for your continued and undiminished support thereafter.

“We give our wholehearted and unshakeable resolve and commitment to support the Presidential Candidate of our Party, the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar GCON, and indeed, all other PDP Candidates during the upcoming 2023 general elections. We are confident that Atiku Abubakar is the best qualified leader to rescue, reform and restore Nigeria to greatness.

“The NMG (OYO STATE CHAPTER) as PDP Leaders & Members hereby vehemently refute, disown and deny any suggestion that the Oyo State PDP will support any candidate other than Atiku Abubakar for the Presidency of Nigeria.

“We deeply abhor and frown at any denigration or use of our Oyo State Anthem, of which we are justly proud, and which is the heritage of all Oyo State citizens regardless of religious or political affiliation, to imply support for any candidate whosoever vying for political office.

“It is totally unacceptable and demeaning to reduce the Oyo State Anthem in the service of mere partisan politics. Our State Anthem speaks of our rich and God given frontline position as the Pathfinder State and should remain inviolable and unsullied. Indeed,

“Ipo Asiwaju l’Edumare fun wa Ni ipinle Oyo!”
Once again, We reiterate our total support for our Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the only Candidate with the competence for the herculean task to fix Nigeria and correct the disastrous 8 years of APC misrule. We urge the good people of Oyo State to vote for the PDP all the way down the Ballot,” the statement added.

The problem with Seyi Makinde and Wike is that they have enjoyed PDP's freedom for too long.

They don't understand that the freedom that the PDP allows every member everywhere in Nigeria is an insult and disrespect in APC.

They are willingly entering the dark alley in the middle of the night without any protection.

Once you have put yourself under the Supreme Leader you should consider yourself an eternal slave.

They should just ask Rauf Aregbesola about his experience.

Well it’s a strategy by them so Atiku can release campaign funds for them.

They can still give Atiku 10% of the vote shar, that’s still okay. Because currently in Oyo, Jagaban is the only thing they understand.

Even Makinde himself knows he will be running against the tide by pushing Atiku coz I just don’t know what he will campaign for Atiku witj.

But in the interest of who he is fighting,Mankinde is right, you're an hypocrite if you want equity, justice and fairness and you don't condemned Pdp jestion the zone of presidential candidate to south and he kicked against in the interest of you people, Tinubu is from south west what's bad in it if seyi Makinde support him to be,if you people didn't put politics ahead of everything, seyi is a Yoruba man and his from west and he was elected not because he is pdp candidate but because people want him there, and since he was there is doing good, Makinde is a leader from the west,he has the leadership mantle to fight for his right and for his people,he can't afford to be slave in the name of politics is very wrong,if it's for humanitarian services, Makinde is very right.their response is just for personal gain.

Former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli, said yesterday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has what it takes to lead Nigeria.

Iseli, in a clarification, said his Friday private conversation with a Facebook acquaintance on the eligibility of the former Lagos State governor was taken out of context.

He said: “While it is regrettable that such a private conversation went viral vide from a Facebook account, let me state that the conversation was taken out of context.

“In the first instance, I have high regards for the person of the APC presidential candidate; a two (2)-term governor of Lagos State and a revered leader of the APC.

“I have lived in Lagos since I relocated from Switzerland, and I can attest to his transformational impact in the state.

“More significantly is his ability to identify and engage exceptional and committed technocrats in governance with tangible results over time, and maintaining relationships with them and others across board.

“This, I believe, will be replicated if he is given the opportunity at the federal level.

“His all-inclusive style of governance has seen people from other states, ethnicities and faith take up appointments in Lagos, serving meritoriously too.

“Consequently, his competence is not in doubt. I only expressed my fear for the rigours of the office.

“My personal view is that anyone can choose any candidate, but must ask themselves if they have chosen rightly.

“This is a pertinent question for everyone. I simply admonished a friend to vote by his convictions.”

Tee Mac added that his only grouse, which he still stood by, was that it was Tinubu who sold Buhari to the nation in 2015, which candidate, contrary to all expectations, underperformed.

“The above notwithstanding, I neither have a personsal grudge with Asiwaju nor would pursue a path of acrimony with my cousin, Remi Tinubu, whom everyone adjudged pleasant and supportive.

“Tinubu Remains A Man I Admire Regardless Of What Sycophants Have Tried To Make Of My Comment.”
