I'm going to give a little summary of my real life experience in the NDA. AFSB is excluded, note. Informations that should remain Restricted/Classified will remain so, so I expect everyone to be satisfied with the little I can drop...

It was raining heavily the day I reported which was on the 14th of August. It was a Sunday morning. The bikeman dropped me off at the entrance of sports complex where the documentation was taking place..... I was among the first few cadets that reported that day. Prep wingers hadn't arrived so things were going pretty smoothly and peacefully. Meanwhile, it didn't take long before they arrived and from the moment they did, our peace was cut shut. Anytime we weren't on the desk verifying our documents, they would wheel us to the back where they made us suffer.....
Squat on your toes.... Shut ur eyeballs, tongues out....WAVE! WAVE!! WAVE!!!.
We thought this was the worse that could happen untill we finished our documentation and an officer told one of em to wheel us to the sports complex to hunch....

We hunched, hunched and hunched...we hunched round the standard football pitch in the sports complex 3 good times. I'm sure we ended up impressing those damn frogs that were croacking all over the place.
By the time I got up, my legs were already shaking like a faulty generator that is about to turn off on its own...

There was something I did that warranted me an extra job compared to what my coursemates served...I'm not gonna divulge it grin

The prep winger wheeled me to a bush, instructed me to BURST MY SHIRT AND RUSH INTO THAT GRASS!
I did not understand what he meant untill I saw one of my coursemate already KNACKING somewhere else....

I replicated what he was doing.... Removed my shirt and began to forward roll in that tall, scratchy grasses... I knacked, knacked and knacked to the point that he asked me
WHERE IS YOUR SHIRT? And I was looking around for my shirt that was just at my front but i couldn't find it.... I was seeing close to triple by the time he was done with me grin

I wore my shirt back after getting back together and went to carry my kaya (load)...
It was time to go to candidates village.

I was already feeling very dizzy to the point that I was staggering like a local drunkard...
DO YOU WANT TO FAINT? Asked one of the civilians there? I shook my head.
I mamsad my bag and was about to head towards the bus that was supposedly to carry us to our destination when one of the prep wingers instructed at the top of his voice.... CARRY THAT LOAD ON YOUR SKULL, SQUAT DOWN AND HUNCH TO THE BUS....

Believe me, I squatted but couldn't move a muscle. I was gassed out... We all were!
But an air force officer sitting by noticed me and had compassion. He told the prep winger to allow me carry my load on my hand and walk to the bus which was like 150m away.

Getting to the bus I met my coursemates already serving jobs. OH LORD, IS THIS WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR?
I joined up and flew two man.
We flew 2 man, switching from time to time. I was already regretting being a cadet and could sense others feeling the same way. But we already signed an oat few hours ago meaning there was no going back now...

Some cried, one lamented that he gives up and wants to go home but the prep wingers only derived more pleasures in our sufferings.

PUTTEE PUTTEE ENDURANCE, MALICE AND INJUSTICE, WICKEDNESS OF PREP WINGERS...
We repeated and repeated while serving malicious jobs.

We were supposed to relocate to candidate village with the bus but the instead made us walk it while carrying our huge luggages on our big heads. We were all tasty, hungry and worn out. But in the academy, NO ONE cares. We managed to reach and finally crossed the gate of candidates village... Finally I'm gonna have myself a good bath, a nice treat and even probably a good sleep after the stressful day, I thought to my niave self....

Suddenly we were welcomed by dozens of more prep wingers rushing to us like a lion rushing towards that precious prey... They were expecting us and at once we realized how doomed we were...

To be continued....

They were eager, itching and even salivating.. they just couldn't wait for our arrival. When we finally crossed that gate, LORD, you couldn't see how they raced towards towards us.... Their prey had arrived.
Seeing how many they were really demoralized me.
I reported in very high spirit, expecting something close or similar to AFSB experience but once the prep wingers were done with us for just that day, reality became clear to me.... LOL.

They made us hunch again not giving a f**k about our battered legs, hungry stomachs, thirsty tongues and weakened body.... They would give you a timing to hunch to a particular place with your kaya (luggage) and when you fail to make it, you'll be made to carry your kaya to the back and start all over again.... Meanwhile, the time they gave was ridiculous to say the least..... We suffered injustice...and malice....

We managed to hunch to the front of the mess and got a little relief as pillow case, blanket, bucket and battalion vest was being issued to us.

I was given myand my Dalet battalion vest.
Yes, I was given my dream battalion that day in sports complex... Couldn't be happier...

We moved into the lines looking out for the bunk that had our names printed on it. I saw mine and quickly packed my kaya there...

For acting sluggishly, a prep winger pumped my jaw thrice? It was hot! Man, I thought physical contact wasn't allowed?

It was getting dark already so they wheeled us to the mess for dinner....

After getting into the mess, we lined up and collected our Chaw. Meanwhile you dared not sit down and start eating your Chaw without first saluting it...
After saluting, we got the signal to dig the Chaw. Immediately we started eating, lo and behold they counted from 1 to 10 and made us dustbin the remaining Chaw....
Sh*t annoyed me cuz I didn't Chaw more than 3 forks but with time we all learned to eat fast with cutlery irrespective of if the food was burning like hell...

From the mess, they wheeled us outside again and we served PUTTEE...

It was already very dark and obviously lights out was jux around the corner...
Some went on to wash their salalas and white canvasses but bcus of how tired I was I mounted my bed immediately we were allowed to....

I dozed off immediately I mounted that bed... Suddenly, in my sleep I started hearing what sounded like a prep winger ranting like a rejected second wife...
BEFORE THE COUNT OF 10, THE LAST DALET BASTARD IS COVERED UP HERE.... ONE, TWO, THREE......
I ignored him like I would to a fool and continued cutting my sweet 5 jejely grin

SUDDENLY!!!!!!!! I heard a very loud bang from a bunk not far away from mine grin
Obviously you didn't need a prophet to tell you that some had been used as a scape goat grin...

I unmounted my bed with the speed of light.... My bunk mate, like Petr Cech, dived down from the up bunk... Cadets were running Helter skelter. We were all confused... I felt like I hadn't slept for more than 5 minutes and they're already waking us up for what reason exactly? I thought to myself.... It was 1:45am (time for chikapa)

After being briefed what chikapa meant and how it's done, we started water logging, scrubbing and dry mopping....
We scrubbed, scrubbed and scrubbed untill we could see ourselves clearly from the floor. There was little to no time to bath as it was already time for muster parade. We marched outside again for yet another round of rigorous training

Walahi!

Re: .....academy Tales.... by Onigawara(m): 10:31am On Dec 22, 2022
Those first 2-3 weeks were really difficult for us all... Ex boys and ex jams included.. our training then was purely Depot training...
I can boldly say that there is little to no difference in the training when comparing to the ones recruits go through at depot...

After muster parade, we would go for morning endurance which is usually 1st period... Infact there was nothing like periods then. We would just 3.2km that morning, return, eat breakfast and immediately head out for PUTTEE... log and shell carrying. Those shells are damn heavy. You would carry one on your shoulders and they'd be giving UP/DOWN (you're required to squat when you hear down, and up with the shell when you hear up). Imagine doing it for 500+. As if that is even the worse. If you're spotted by a prep winger not going up and down properly, they'll wheel you to the back and water the shit outta you. Afterwhich, you'll be given a huge log of timber to carry which is usually miles heavier. They have a way of proving to you that whatever you're going through isn't the worst that can happen to you..... So in any situation you find yourself, appreciate it.

Log carrying, shells, endless pushups and sit ups....no break, not even a time to rest. The only few minutes we used to get relief was when we were marched into the mess to eat... We were marched outside to continue training immediately we were done eating. Not s second longer.
You guys remember during the AFSB when we all would be complaining of sitting too much on the floor.... Lol as cadets even a minute to sit down was very appreciated bcus the only time we got to sit was in the mess and maybe after lights out which is usually an hour or two....

We trained, trained and trained. I was already feeling stronger each day. I was fatigued as hell but continued.... I had no choice. What motivated me everyday to continue was just remembering how happy each and every members of my family felt for me when I got admitted... What would I tell them if I dashed, when there are cadets there still enduring?

In the second week, I along some other cadets did something we shouldn't have of which we payed for with our sweats...

A prep winger was assigned to make us suffer injustice. At night checking, he wheeled 7 of us to Mogadishu block where we suffered!

For the first time in my life, I blew pot (sat on my head). Meanwhile, as he was wheeling us there, even when it wasn obvious we were going to serve job, I wasn't scared at all because I felt like I could withstand and take any job thrown at me.

That changed when I realized we were going to sit on our heads.... "Sit on your head for just an hour and you're free to go as you'd av cleared your name"
I couldn't sit on my head for more than 5 minutes and dropped immediately. Yet again, he proved to me that that wasn't the worst that could happen. He jacked me from my two legs and tied em to the top bunk in the position that I would be hanging....

We screamed, wailed.... Some cried and were close to crying blood. But no one was coming to our rescue.
What saved us was when a cadet obviously reached his limit and started convulsing.
The prep winger got scared and started some of his colleagues to help with the situation. Already some white substances were already coming out his mouth.

They released us all cus it was obvious we had suffered enough...

Meanwhile it is worth nothing that even after that, the prep wingers still routinely jobbed us for what we did. One us DASHED because of it and I still feel guilty because I didn't advice him against it despite his body language showing that he was fed up. We all were but I guess it had more psychological effects more on him.

You don't know how it feels when after going through lots of rigorous training and during lights out when you're supposed to recover by cutting 5, a prep winger would come and pack you and make you suffer for something you did weeks ago and have obviously learnt your lesson....

Even I was losing it already not gonna lie

please more stories

By the 4th week or thereabout, we started going for drills in the parade ground where we marched untill we felt our feets little to no more --- PREY DALET CLOWNS----TION!!! STAND AT EASE.... PREYYYY-----TION! LOOK TO THE LEFT IN 3s.... LEFT TURN!.... BY THE RIGHT!, QUICK LEFT MARCH.... LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT LEFT... we screamed out while marching hard on our hills..

Meanwhile, it is intriguing to know that even while marching some of us slept lol. Sounds impossible until you come to the academy and withness it first hand

We also started going for weapon training where we tactically slept cause most times we sat down and learnt.

We were also attending classes in the mess.
Heck, we even started getting admins (1hour break) to wash your dirty salalas and to sleep for those who have nothing doing.
Ngl we started having little reliefs after those first three weeks of extreme high intensity and rigorous training.

Meanwhile, what I hated the most was the fact that by that same fourth week, we were started running 10km every morning and evening which I hated. Running was my only problem as I didn't have much gas. Even the 3.2 we were running before, I was barely able to run it.
After running, you would see smoke coming out of the heads and body of cadets.
People started having one injury or the other on their legs because of the long distances we ran everyday. Mehn, I hated those morning and evenings

With time, after considering the injuries so many cadets had on their legs, they started giving some sorta excuse to those who couldn't run from running. They were called the GURU GURU SQUAD.

WE ARE THE CADETS OF DALET BATTALION! cool
WHERE GOD IS IN CHARGE OF ALL THINGS,
AND SO,
WE ARE VERY PROUD, WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THE NAME OF DALET!
TOUGH AND RUGGED ARE THE CADETS OF DALET,
DISCIPLINE AND COURAGE OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE; GOD BLESS DALET
AMEN!!!

our anthem was the shortest and most easiest to learn. But if I'm to be honest, the Abyssinian anthem is the sweetest, followed by ours and then moga, then Burma.

Meanwhile, you can ask any clown for confirmation on what I'm about to say::

During prep wing, we the daletians saw extreme shayi (peace) compared to other battalions. Our prep wingers were very reasonable, rational, and logical. MOST times, they corrected and advised us when we did stupid things. We all LOVED all our Dalet prep wingers cuz of it

Meanwhile, the first 3-4 weeks of our prep wing, Mogadishu cadets saw Darkness!
They were suffering front, back, left, right and center. There was no minute that they weren't suffering. They suffered more than the rest 3 battalion COMBINED in just those first 3-4 weeks.

Meanwhile, after those first 3-4 weeks, it became Burma and remained Burma until end of prep wing.
Burma cadets suffered MASSIVE AND COLOSSAL injustice. Infact as a civilian or anyone who didn't experience or see it live and direct, it would be difficult to fathom what I'm saying. They suffered beyond what y'all know as suffering and it's not even a joke, trust me. Maybe I'll write on it next.

Abyssinia cadets saw little shayi too but unlike us, some of their prep wingers were the NO-NOSENSE type. In conclusion the order is;
Dalet
Abyssinia
Moga
Burma

So, manage and be a Daletian folks wink help yourselves

Meanwhile, after those first 3-4 weeks, it became Burma and remained Burma until end of prep wing.
Burma cadets suffered MASSIVE AND COLOSSAL injustice. Infact as a civilian or anyone who didn't experience or see it live and direct, it would be difficult to fathom what I'm saying. They suffered beyond what y'all know as suffering and it's not even a joke, trust me. Maybe I'll write on it next.

Abyssinia cadets saw little shayi too but unlike us, some of their prep wingers were the NO-NOSENSE type. In conclusion the order is;
Dalet
Abyssinia
Moga
Burma

So, manage and be a Daletian folks wink help yourselves

I always wanted to be a daletian. One of my 74rc coursemate is in Mogadishu and he didn't find it funny at all. He's currently an appointment holder, you might now him

I don't understand. He's a member of the 74RC?
Meanwhile, if he isn't then I'm not sure if I'll know him except maybe he's a 4th termer.

Visiting another battalion as a clown is suicide BTW. You mightn't make it back in one piece. It is why I'm yet to even meet face to face with my friend who is a mogese and a 3rd terma but we're in same academy lol grin

Saw him during drill test.

Female cadets underwent same training with male during prep wing.
Infact 90% of the male clowns would've dashed if they were subject to what those female cadets went through, including me. YES, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT! I would've dashed if I went through what some of those girls went through. They suffered extreme malice and injustice...more than 99% of males

Meanwhile, at Afaka, they're seeing shayi. Boys hardly touch them. Infact they give them dash away when seen serving jobs and also there are limite to jobs they serve.
