How Satan Became The Lord Of Earth And Man by GreatCEmmanuel: 10:28pm On Dec 22, 2022
Genesis:1
[26] Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
[28] And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Luke:4
[5] And the devil took him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
[6] and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory; for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will.
[7] If you, then, will worship me, it shall all be yours.”
[8] And Jesus answered him, “It is written,
‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.’”

Ezekiel:28
[11] Moreover the word of the Lord came to me:
[12] “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
[13] You were in Eden, the garden of God;
every precious stone was your covering,
carnelian, topaz, and jasper, chrysolite, beryl, and onyx, sapphire, carbuncle, and emerald; and wrought in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared.
[14] With an anointed guardian cherub I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.
[15] You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.
[16] In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and the guardian cherub drove you out from the midst of the stones of fire.
[17] Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.
[18] By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought forth fire from the midst of you; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you.
[19] All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more for ever.”

The first thing you need to understand is that the reason why God created the world and man was for it and him to be an expression of His glory, just like the angels (Isa. 43:7, Rev. 4:10-11). God didn't need a reason to create. He just did because He wanted to.

And when God created man, He gave him charge and rulership over the world He had created. Man indirectly became the god of this world.

But something happened. Man lost his authority. Luke 4:5-8 indicates that Satan now has the authority over this world. It means man lost his authority to Satan. But how?

Genesis 2:9, 16 & 17 indicates that God put a tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden of Eden where man resided. And God told him not to eat of it, which if he did, he would die. In Genesis 3, Satan deceived him, and unfortunately, Adam ate of the tree and he was subjected to death. But was that enough for Satan to usurp man's authority?

Before we delve into that, we need to first understand why in the first place God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden. Why would God put something that would destroy man and bring death to Him? Because if you look at it, there would be no death if man had not eaten of the tree.

One, man was not created with the capacity to have knowledge of both good and evil; it would practically destroy him, as it would enable him to easily commit sin, which it finally did.
Two, even though man was not created to know good and evil, God still put the tree there as a test for obedience. It is God's greatest desire that apart from loving Him, all His creations should obey Him. God knew the repercussions. He knew that somehow men would fall short of that command, but He is extremely looking for loyalists. God wanted men that would choose to obey Him, but unfortunately, Adam disappointed Him. The angels that God created had capacity for the knowledge of good and evil, yet some of them still rebelled against God (Gen. 6:4, Ezek. 28:11-19, 2 Pet. 2:4). But the difference between those angels and man was that man only disobeyed out of ignorance, but the angels willfully rebelled. However, the seed of the knowledge of good and evil brought about rebellion in man, because after Adam ate of the tree, his descendants began to rebel against God (Gen. 6:5-7, Rom. 1:18-32).

So, back to the question; how did Satan usurp man's authority?

To know that, there is need for us to understand who Satan is and his origin.

Ezekiel 28:11-19 was an oracle of God to the prophet Ezekiel. The message was for the King of Tyre. But if you look closely, you'll understand that that message was not for a human king. From a prophetic and historical point of view, the King being referred to here was the god of Tyre. The human king of Tyre had already being dealt with in Ezek. 28:1-10. The message in Ezek. 28:11-19 was talking to a divine, or rather, diabolical being. So how do we know that the being was Satan?

Ezek. 28:13 says, "You were in Eden, the garden of God..." It means that this being had access to the garden of Eden. Gen. 3 indicates that Eve was deceived by the serpent. But Rev. 12:9 which is a prophecy of the future, and not a revelation of the past, indicates that Satan is actually that ancient serpent who deceived man. So it's safe to say that Satan was the one who deceived Eve in the garden of Eden. And it's also safe to say that Satan only became Satan after man was created, not before. So how did Satan become Satan?

The answer to that still lies in Ezek. 28:11-19. Meanwhile, Satan means 'adversary'. So it's safe to say that Satan could not have been his original name.

1. Vs 13-14, Satan was not an ordinary angel. He was like an archangel (Jude 1:9), who occupied a very important position. But yet, there was still a guardian cherub who was greater than him in position. Just like God has positioned angels to watch over men, God positioned this guardian cherub to watch over Satan. And in vs 16 when Satan rebelled, this guardian cherub had power to chase Satan out of the mountain of God.

2. Vs 15, Satan was still holy and righteous until he began to have evil thoughts and desires.

3. Vs, 16, the phrase, "In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned" is a figure of speech for saying, "With what you were very perfect in, you perverted it or used it to achieve your own evil desire." How do I know this? Vs 17 says, "Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor." Satan's trade was wisdom. He was very perfect in wisdom. So he used his wisdom to the wrong end. Vs 18 says, "By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries." So for the sake of his splendor, Satan perverted his wisdom, meaning that Satan wrongly used his wisdom to do unspeakable things in the quest of increasing his sphere of influence. In other words, Satan was looking for more power. So, before Satan deceived man, he had already sinned because he was trying to grow beyond what God had given him.

4. How was Satan punished?
One, vs 16 & 17: He was thrown down from the mountain of God, and was left to roam about. (The kings in vs 17 could be referring to the 24 elders in the book of Revelation, who always cast their crowns in worship to God)
Two, vs 18 & 19: Satan was stripped of all his glory. He no longer commands the authority and position he had before God. And a place has already been prepared for him to suffer forever, at God's appointed time.

So, the question is why didn't God just chain the devil or keep him somewhere else? At least he wouldn't have been able to deceive man. The answer is that that's how God chose to do it; God left Satan to roam about.

Seeing that we now know the origin of Satan, how did he usurp man's authority?

1. Seeing that Satan was left to roam about, he still had access to the garden of Eden.

2. For Satan to gain control over this world, Adam himself had to die. Man's rightful rulership over this world was tied to his immortal life, because God purposed for man to live forever in this world. If Adam were to die, then he would no longer exist to rule over this world, giving room for the wanderer who is Satan to take over. Adam needed to be mortal for him to lose his authority over this world. His spiritual capacity as an immortal needed to be taken away for Satan to take charge over this world. If Adam could be killed, he would become Satan's slave and unable to challenge Satan.

If you want to understand the kind of life that Adam had, look at Jesus (1 Cor. 15:45-47). The kind of life that Adam had was the same kind of life that Jesus had. Nothing in this world could kill Jesus. Jesus himself said, John:10

[17] For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
[18] No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from my Father.”

Jesus only died because he himself released his spirit (Lk. 23:46). Yes, Jesus could experience fatigue and he could be wounded, but he definitely couldn't be killed. And this brings us to why God also planted the tree of life in the garden of Eden. Rev. 22:2 tell us that the tree of life was for the healing of the nations. This means that the tree of life which was in Eden is now in heaven. And Rev. 2:7 confirms that the tree of life is in the paradise or garden of God, which means that the garden of Eden that was formerly on earth was transported to Heaven. That's why we can't find the garden of Eden anywhere in this world.

Man couldn't die but he could experience fatigue and bruises. So the presence of the tree of life meant that he if he ate of it, he would experience a refreshing and healing.

3. So the only way that Satan could kill Adam and make him mortal, was to take advantage of God's provision which was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and deceive Adam to eat of it.
Had it been it was only Eve that ate of the tree, she alone would have died. But the devil had to make sure that Adam ate also, because once Adam who is the progenitor of all the race of men, eats of it, his descendants too would be mortal.

So Satan became the lord of Earth and man because:

1. God left him to roam about.

2. Man became mortal. Satan now had power to choose who lived or not. Not only that, he also had power over those who eventually died and got separated from God. He had power to torment those who found themselves in Hades.

Death is not just ceasing to exist. Death is a separation from this world into another world. Death is not just a state; death is a realm or place (Rev. 20:13-14). If you were sinful, it meant both separation from this world and from God. If you were holy, it meant separation from this world but a going back to God in Heaven. So that's why Satan has the power of death (Heb. 2:14). Anyone who is sinful and dies will be separated from God. And Satan has power to torment such a person in Hades. Death and Hades is the same place and habitation for anyone who is separated from God.

And that is the reason why Jesus had to go to Hades (Rev. 1:18). Jesus defeated Satan, and man can only be free from the power of Satan by accepting Jesus as Lord (Col. 1:13; 2:15). Jesus had to bear the resemblance of a sinner to enter into Hades (Isa. 53:4-6). The law of Moses was still not enough to bring all men to salvation, and the seed of sin had already been sown in men by the one act of Adam (Rom. 5:12). So Jesus went to Hades, Satan tried to hold him there because he was carrying the mark of a sinner, Jesus refused and broke free from Satan's attempt. Jesus resurrected from death, and whoever believes in Him will be free from the power of Satan.

Satan still has control over the earth, but you can be free from his authority over your life. All you need to do today is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Satan can't kill you again, except when you give him chance through sin or ignorance (Eph. 4:27). But does it mean you won't die? No! But by accepting Jesus, when you die, you won't be separated from God. You won't go to the realm of Death and Hades where there is unending torment. Once you die, you will go back to your creator and Father. Do not let the things you see in this world deceive you. Your efforts in this life do not matter if at the end of the day you will leave them only to face unending torment.

The account I have given to you is true and trustworthy, do not scoff!
Jesus is speaking to you today, please do not ignore!

Romans:5
[17] If, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
[18] Then as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men.

Romans:10
[9] because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
[10] For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.

1. None of the Bible passages you referenced support your claim regarding Satan. Luke 4:5-8 which you quoted, instead states that Satan, a father of lies, asserted that he has authority over the world, a claim that is not founded on any of God's Truth stated in scripture.undecided

2. There is no suggestion in Genesis that Satan gained authority over the earth. undecided

3. Notice how you conveniently ignored a good portion of that stated right there in the context of Ezekiel 28 in order to assert that the King of Tyre referenced in that passage is the eternal being that is Satan. Again, all you have done is try to twist and turn scripture in order to continue to assert a belief you already hold to. undecided

4. As expected, you have gotten on a rollercoaster ride with the spin at this point. Ignoring all that is actually written in order to assert instead the delusions which you have been previously fed. None of what you state here answers the OP question nor provides evidence for your many assertions. undecided

5. Why would Satan need to be punished? For what? undecided
