Lil. Look at how stupid and foolish some people are. How, where and when did the Holy spirit authored the Bible? How does the Holy spirit that authored the Bible look like?
grin grin
contra:

The Bible is not a philosophical book. It's a spiritual book. If you don't have the Holy Spirit you will be in error. This one is the most important because the Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible.

Interpreting the Bible can be a complex task, and there are many different approaches and methods that scholars and readers use to understand its meaning. Here are a few key principles that can help guide interpretation:

Context: Understanding the context of a particular passage or book is crucial to interpreting it correctly. This includes the historical, cultural, and literary context of the text, as well as the broader theological context of the Bible as a whole.

Genre: Recognizing the genre or type of literature a particular passage is can help us understand its intended meaning. For example, poetry uses figurative language and imagery, while historical narratives describe events in a straightforward way.

Authorial intent: It is important to consider what the author of a particular book or passage was trying to communicate to their original audience. This can involve studying the language, culture, and historical context of the author and their audience.

Literary devices: Biblical authors often use literary devices such as metaphor, allegory, and symbolism to communicate their message. Recognizing these devices can help us understand the intended meaning.

Scripture interpreting Scripture: The Bible is a unified whole, and one passage should be understood in light of the rest of the Bible. This means that interpreting a particular passage should take into account other related passages and themes throughout the Bible.

Prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit: Ultimately, understanding the Bible requires the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Prayer and an openness to God's leading can help us discern the true meaning of Scripture.

These principles are not exhaustive, but they can provide a helpful framework for interpreting the Bible in a responsible and faithful way. It is also important to seek out trustworthy resources, such as commentaries and study Bibles, to aid in interpretation.

For me, this is why every believer MUST speak in tongues:

And Jesus said to the apostles (after risen from the dead) in Mark 16:15-17 "Go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is babtized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. AND THESE SIGNS will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; THEY WILL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES."

Tongues is a sign that must manifest in you if you're a believer! ( These are not my words, It's Jesus').

And when Jesus spoke of speaking in tongues in Mark 16, he wasn't even saying it in reference to the eleven apostles present, he was telling them (in a lay man's language), that after they have preached the gospel to people, for them to know if those people have actually believed what they preached, they should watch out to see these signs in them:
* If they can cast out demons in His name
* If they can speak in new tongues

So, once you believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you should be able to speak in tongues. If you can't speak in tongues, then, there's an ERROR in your faith.

So, what you are saying in essence is that, if I don't speak in tongues, it means I am doomed right? Probably too, I have no place in the Kingdom of God right?

Thank you for this good submission.

However, if speaking in tongues ceased with the dead of the Apostles, what happen to the instruction in:
1 Corinthians 14:27
"If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret".
This instruction indicates a projection beyond the period of the Apostles (I.e. it is continuous).

Does this not contradictory to 1 Corinthians 13:8 as quoted by you? Could you please explain.

Or could it be that the verse is misinterpreted out of context by you, please do a further research on it.

If truly it has ceased, why are today's so called men of God not appreciating this fact but still go ahead to speaking in tongues.

If it has not ceased, Pastors/Apostles and others that are speaking in tongues today should be educated to follow the instructions as stated in 1 Corinthians 14:27.

Paul also provides guidance on the use of tongues in public worship, emphasizing the importance of interpretation so that others may understand and be edified (1 Corinthians 14:5-19).

Jesus himself spoke about the gift of tongues in Mark 16:17-18, saying, "These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Jesus mentioned 5 signs that will accompany a believer as stated here. But today's believers only focus on one (speaking in tongues) as a way to show others that they have the holy spirit. What about the other 4? Pls take a closer look at those 5 signs again and you will find the answer: Only one of those signs is possible to FAKE - Speaking in tongues. The other 4 are impossible to fake. That is why the charlatans that calls themselves pastors are using FAKE tongues to deceive you and make you believe they have the holy spirit.
Like you quoted above, that when someone spoke a strange tongue in church during worship, there must be someone to interprete it, otherwise, it is useless.
Have you ever seen in any church, a situation where someone spoke in tongues and what he said is interpreted as the bible directed? This is a proof that all these strange utterances we hear in churches today are all FAKE.
The bible said that tongues shall cease, but even if it still exist, it is not what we hear today in churches.

The gifts of the holy spirit, including that of speaking in tongues, were a temporary provision. The Bible foretold: “If there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease.”—1 Corinthians 13:8.

*The Bible is not a philosophical book* SIR, I THINK YOU LIED HERE. BY SIMPLY UNDERSTANDING THE RELIGION AND POLITICS OF ISRAEL, ROME, CORRINTH, GREECE, BABYLON, EGYPT, ASSYRIA AND MANY ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS, YOU CAN INTERPRET THE BIBLE. YOU JUST NEED GOD'S FOR YOU TO OBEY ALL THAT IT CONTAINS.
Re: What Does The Bible Teach About Speaking In Tongues? by CharlesofJesus: 2:17pm On Feb 26, 2023
Initially you were making 101% sense but those last words about speaking in tongues ending in the early Century is a damnable heretical teaching and if you don't disease from such eternal judgement of God will find you out.

Firstly; Apostle Paul was not a disciple of Jesus and was not Among the 120 you mentioned initially, he encountered Jesus later after the days of Pentecost and he had the gift which he testified to in the book of Corinthians and also showed that he transferred same gift in the book of Acts. He prayed for the 12 persons at Ephesus who had knowledge only in the baptism on John (repentance) and after laying hands on them they received the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues. What will you say about that?

Secondly; Apostle Peter prayed for new disciples both in Samaria and the centurion with his family in cesarea and they all spoke in tongues.

Speaking in tongues as you rightly said initially was to convince the Gentile nations that YESHUA is truly the son of God and Believe. So goes for belivers now, doing missionary jobs in a place they do not understand their language, such miracles still happen to convince them to God through Christ.

After believing we ought to walk in the spirit by bearing the fruits of the spirit just as you have said as it is written in Galatians 5 ( Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, Faith, meekness and temperance we must exhibit these by his grace and spirit which lives in us)

There are recent testimonies of speaking in tongues shared by pastor Kumuyi about an illitrate woman everybody know that cant speak English, by the spirit she spoke well articulated English with sounds to passed a delicate information to the brethren during a service. What will you say about that?

Kobojunkiee:
1. So, what you are invariably saying that Jesus Christ lied when He decreed that those who belong to Him(even those in our world today) will speak in tongues(note the world is plural) they never learned)? You believe He lied when He declared His Word - His teachings and commandments, God's very Covenant of Peace to the House of Israel - everlasting ? undecided

2. So if you believe this "gift" indeed ceased, is that then confirmation that there are none today, including all those in your cult/group, that is indeed of Jesus Christ? undecided

I mean according to Jesus Christ, this was God's very own Mark on those who belong to Him ---- Isaiah 66 vs 18 -21 ---- and Jesus Christ said that Mark was everlasting by His decree that His Word, God’s New Covenant of peace, is everlasting. So when you declare it cease, you insinuate that God’s Covenant has ceased hence making God a liar is this. undecided

Why associate yourselves with a God whose words mean absolutely nothing to you? undecided

You're so quick to insult people. Someone just shared what he knows and you started using derogatory words.

Speaking in tongues means speaking in different languages. When you speak, people understand what you are saying. Many people today have the gift of being able to speak different languages.

The kabash, rekeh baba shaka..... That you speak today, has anybody being able to translate the gibberish? And why is it that your gibberish all sound the same. Its supposed to be different languages narrrr.

Abeg speak in tongues to me, I wan see something.

I know that a big church in Ota has a section where they learn to speak the gibberish. Rekeh baba kabash. grin grin grin grin cheesy

About this tongue speaking....when we were in secondary school, we usually have evening service on Sunday evenings and my friend and I had made up our minds to seek for the baptism of the Holy spirit as we heard it preached in the morning service. So that day, during the evening service, we knelt down and were praying for a long time.....soon I felt my friend become more in depth in the prayers and soon she bursted out speaking in tongues...it was Igbo language as she was saying something Chineke....my friend isn't igbo and she wasn't affiliated with anything igbo as far as I knew.....I was so surprised and happy for her....our prayers were answered....we were just about 12yrs or 13yrs then.....I didn't get my gift until several years later. Since I got baptised with the Holy Spirit, I asked for the gift of tongue speaking and I use it whenever I pray and don't know what to ask for. I believe it helps me to pray deeper and to cover prayer points that my own understanding may not fathom.

Firstly the jw practice a false doctrine and I pray that they repent and come to the true knowledge of God.
Secondly, to attend to this topic, I'm like a practical cessationist, but I do believe that gift of tongues can happen to a missionary somewhere who knows the in depth study of the word of God, but what we see in Pentecostal/charismatic churches today, omo na gibberish because it doesn't correlate with what I see in the bible.
