Communication or Assumption.

Assumption is the lowest level of knowledge, someone once said. And another said that it is the lowest form of intelligence.

Conflicts fester and communication gaps continue to widen in workplaces, due to assumptions, miscommunication and/or ineffective communication.

We are often blind-sided by our prejudices plus biases, and commit ourselves to actions and inactions based on our assumed frame of reality.

He’s a Gen Zee and impatient, she’s a boomer and old-fashioned, they are millenials and not focused. And the war continues!

At the performance management level, I assume I am doing very well but an expectation gap exists between my manager and myself. The feedback mechanism isn’t utilised by both parties. And conflicts persist. Job dis-satisfaction. Disengagement. Quiet-quitting. Resignation. Replacement hire. And the cycle continues.

Seek clarity in communication. Give precise, clear and unambiguous messages and feedback. Avoid assumptions.

What are problems that could be lucrative to solve in Nigeria?
I believe it is important to have a mindset that looks to add value to people, help people, contribute to the society. When we add value, the money would come. There are many problems in Nigeria that need urgent attention and creative solutions. The importance of technology in problem-solving is essential.

The internet is a medium that connects people, the successful tech companies (Google, Facebook etc) at their core connect people - they connect people to other people, they connect people to the things they love, to things they need.

Concepts that would help me find a problem to solve is asking questions like "How can I connect people to things they need? ", "How do I make life easier for people (myself inclusive), more convenient, much more enjoyable? ".
