You want PO to push the price to N87 or N40, in the first few weeks of power...meaning that subsidy costs would shoot up to nearly 10 trillion naira per annum....when under Buhari it never reach 5 trillion per annum.

You guys, you should accept that good governance involves letting fuel marketers set their prices, like other businesses. Rice is not scare , nether is beans because they can set their price.

This is the bitter truth. I don't understand how people equate Tinunbu to Buhari...Because they're in the same party doesn't mean they have the same team. It is clear that Buhari is a tribalist, and he used his second term to satisfy his people...he doesn't give a F about the common man anymore, and he also has people that push his mumu button. Tinunbu is definitely not that way. Tinunbu is not a saint, but he will be miles better than Buhari.

Akuko! it is Tinubu that is not a tribalist.

And you mean after those Northern governors fight Buhari, the cabal, the Sultan, and other Northern elite to install Tinubu, he'll not be controlled. Do you have any idea what the kind of backroom deals Tinubu made to secure the backing of Northern governors and senators. Or you think it's simply money. How much e get?

Just say you're supporting Tinubu because you'd benefit politically. All other reasons are 404.

Buhari is the lowest bar. The worst president past, present, and future in the democratic era. The competition is not Buhari but Obi and Atiku. Tinubu will not be better than Obi or Atiku.

The last time BOVAS sold was about 3 days ago and the tanker arrived a day before that day.

Do you know if the subsidy payment is given to non existing oil marketers? We have heard in the past where subsidy is paid to individuals and oil marketers but the product is never delivered. Those who manages to bring the product diverts to neighbouring countries to sell. How about that?

Yes, because

1.That is a side effect of free money. When there is free money, which is what subsidy payments encourage, abuses results.

2.And diversion to neighbours happen because fuel costs N180 here and N500 and above in all our neighbours. N400 in Niger. When that happens, any intelligent mugu would smuggle....and they would even have enough to bribe customs, and go home with a lot of money.

That is why subsidy has to go...so that there would be no more free money, and by extension no more collection of money for petrol not imported, and also, no more smuggling...since prices would be the same all over,

Another problem with subsidy is our population is growing...and growing fast. And because power supply is bad, we use a lot of petrol in our generatiors and stuff...infact our private secotr runs on generatiors...and then people buy cars and so forth..and all use petrol

More people use petrol...more subsidy costs rise....to a point beyond which government can pay.

Also, fuel costs a lot to refine...and increasing costs asscoiated with production means that fuel prices rise as a result...plus oil prices are also high...and with that subsidy costs go up.

Finally, NNPC brings in fuel at N500 and sells it at N150 to depot. Before it was N230 to sell to depot at N150 some 18 months ago. At some point NNPC losses would be beyond what subsidy can cover

And thus here we are.

Have always suggested that the easiest way to curb smuggling to Neighboring countries is to ensure ours is more costly.

Then on the flip side make direct payments to Nigerians to cushion the initial effect using some certain parameters.

Yes, people smuggle because if fuel costs N190 here and N500 in Niger, Cameroon and Benin...I mean if you are an enterprising someone, you would just simply take fuel across the border, and even have enough to pay customs officers on both sides bribes.

Miraculously 190 yesterday from BOVAS Technical College Osogbo

If BOVAs could be selling below 200/per litre all over Nigeria, what makes other petrol stationd selling at outrageous price above 300/per litre?

Nigerians are terrible people, and the funniest things is that, no one will question these people but keep blaming government. Alot of producers and marketers are taking advantage of APC bad governance to milk the masses dry because they know we won't question them because of our hatred for APC.

Hmm...in Nov 2022, it cost N500 to bring in one liter of fuel into Nigeria...which must be sold at N180 per liter

In Dec 2011, it cost N99 to bring in one liter of fuel into Nigeria which must be sold at N65 at the pump.

Let us even assume that government listens to you and fixes fuel at N87 per liter today...that means that government would be paying at least N400 per liter , up from N50 it was paying in 2015...

See why subsidy costs rise?

If Peter Obi comes in and sets prices at N87, our subsidy costs would be higher than anything Buhari ever paid for...we could reach close to N8trillion for subsidy. Or more. And we would lose more money to smuggling.

Prices go up because it costs money to make things...petrol inclusive.
Yea... that's why this subsidy shit should be removed once and for all, buying fuel at #250 litre won't kill anybody, we will adapt to it once and for all...
