Chapter 1
Mr Johnson’s Visit

Rituals had a way of exposing even the devil among people. Nosa Obaigbenwen had the habit of opening the door every day to remind himself that the world still existed. That morning as he allowed the cold wind of gathering clouds to make the door creak behind him, his eyes roved around the trees that surrounded the mountain top they now lived.
‘Your phone’s ringing!’ Moriah called from within the house.
‘Let it!’ Nosa replied. A bright smile covered his face because the caller and just didn’t care for his need.
For some days now, Mr Johnson had been calling him incessantly, but Nosa wouldn’t allow himself to be dragged into the dark hole of investigating occurrence in Greencity. The last one cost him a lot of things- his wife, his side chick, his father, his child, and his soul. So, he focused his thought on something else.
Another ritual he had going was joining his friends in celebrating the New Year. The group referred to themselves as the Fortune City Four, but life had increased their numbers and created a wedge between them all. The group used to comprise Nosa, Moriah (his current wife), Rapheal (his best friend), and Chloe Kings (his dangerous ex-wife). Now, Raphael was with his fat wife and Chloe has been ostracised from everyone. No one knew where she had been since last year when she escaped from a psychiatric home she was sentenced to.
So, it was surprising when on New Year’s Eve by 11:59pm, they received a message from Chloe that she wanted to join the meeting. Of course, they were stunned.
‘Did you say Chloe?’ Raphael asked. ‘Chloe Kings Obaiwengben’.
‘Yeah!’ Moriah replied. She was in charge of the Zoom meeting.
‘Let her in!’ Raphael said before anyone could say otherwise.
The moment her face appeared, everyone became silent, even Raphael that seemed eager to have her there with them.
‘Hi!’ Chloe said and raised her hands as if she didn’t have any care in the world.
“Hi” Moriah jumped in and began telling her how everyone had been, even before she could ask.
Nosa raised touched Moriah to make her know he was ready to talk. He could hear Raphael inhaling loudly.
‘Where are you?’ Nosa blurted out. ‘You were in the psychiatric ward but have escaped’.
Chloe smiled. ‘I’m doing the Lord’s work. And….” She slurred and sat upright. “This might be the last time anyone of us might be having the January 1st ritual because Jesus would have arrived before the next one”.
‘Yeah! Yeah!’ Nosa grunted and continued picking at his food. He shouldn’t even talk to her being that she killed his father before she was sent to Fortune City psych ward and almost killed his unborn child that was with his side chick. Nosa refused to look at Moriah’s eyes for fear that she would claim that he was being careless again.
‘What do you mean by Jesus' arrival?’ Raphael asked.
‘Have you been living under a rock!’ Chloe’s eyes shone excitedly. ‘God is coming for you and you and you and everyone. God is coming for us all to pick the saint. I want you all to repent of any sin you might have committed because the arrival of Jesus is in a few months and you don’t want to be on the wrong side’.
Just as Nosa tried talking, someone hurried to whisper something into Chloe’s ears. Her eyes widened in despair. If Nosa’s feeling wasn’t in the air, he probably would have cared to know what made her look bewildered, but he wouldn’t even let her become a problem for him.
‘Oh! Guys. It’s been a long time enough!’ Chloe said amidst clenched teeth and a fake smile. Nosa could easily see the anger and desperation in her eyes. ‘God be with y’all’.
She rose and left without switching off the laptop. Someone’s hand stretched to the power button and her page was gone.
Now, as Nosa was outside all he could think of was how much they could have done to save Chloe or follow her up after the loss of her father or their daughter. When they were together, she wasn’t barren. Had they not lost their daughter, she probably wouldn’t done some of the crazy things attributed to her and wouldn’t have killed his father or even try killing Shayla, his side chick.
‘Who is that?’ Moriah asked.
Nosa glanced back at her as he never realized that his beloved wife, whom he had always cherished, who stood by him during his time of turmoil, was currently standing behind him. ‘Who?’
‘There! Coming up the mountain!’ Moriah pointed at something in the far distance.
‘I can’t make the figure. Only all of our friends know we’re here’, Nosa shrugged. ‘I better get my gun’.
‘Probably’, Moriah looked at him in such a way that she still feared it might be someone from Chloe.
‘I’ll be back’. Nosa hurried to his room. Just as he picked up the gun, Moriah shouted something inaudible, but he knew it wasn’t a cry for help. It was more in relief than fear. ‘What did you say?’
‘It’s Mr Johnson’, Moriah replied. He could hear the hint of laughter in her voice.
‘Oh! The businessman!’ Nosa shook his head as he made his way back outside. Even at that, he didn’t want to drop the gun.
“You might need to put that out of sight!” Moriah said.
Nosa didn’t look at her as he shook his head. Mr Johnson’s fat body bubbled as he heaved through the bush paths that led to the mountain. The morning sun on his sweaty face reminded Nosa of museum sculptures. However, his shabby looked pricked Nosa’s attention. Johnson was never caught unfresh but today his flabby shorts bouncing around his body made Nosa worried. Despite his resolve not to be involved in any form of detective work again, Johnson had the gift of gab and could cajole him to engage in any investigation.
“Ah! Nosa Ogbaiwagben. Nosa oh!” Johnson cried as he came nearer.
“Please, stop shouting my name”, Nosa growled, but loud enough for the man.
Moriah’s bright smile didn’t hide the squeamish look she threw at Nosa.
“We’re in trouble”, Johnson said as he eventually got through their mini gate.
They didn’t need to put up gate anywhere because Moriah’s alarms were everywhere. Moreover, they’ve never had to worry about any impending evil because the mountain was on the outskirt of the Green City, one the least visited places in the whole of Fortune City Island.
“You and who are in trouble?”
Johnson shook his head and sat on the pavement as he tried to catch his breath.
“What happened? Mr Johnson”, Nosa asked.
“My child. My wife ran away with my child”.
“For what?” Nosa turned to Chloe.
“My child!”
“Let’s go inside!”
“Inside as how, Nosa?” Johnson hurried stood up to face and held the hem of Nosa’s clothes tightly. “I’m in a big soup”.
“See! You have to hold yourself together!” Moriah cautioned as she straightened her clothes. “Except his friends, no other person had come visiting, at least with a mood that looks as if the world is coming to an end. Please, I won’t let anyone suck him up in these wahala again”.
“Mummy… Aunt. Moriah, the world has come to an end. My child”, Johnson reached out for a handkerchief in his pocket. “See…”
Nosa brushed off his hand. “When you’re ready to talk, talk.”
“My child and wife I can’t find them!”
Nosa glanced at Moriah to share his feeling that Johnson was going insane. Nosa sighed as he looked at the right way to tell this man that he should start looking for the best divorce lawyer.
“Did you people have any form of squabble?”
“Squabble as how! No fight. Someone I still gave money to yesterday for a recharge card. Is 100k too small for a recharge card?”
Moriah squinted her eyes. “That’s weird”.
“I don’t let her suffer. But of recent, she had been engrossed in some news of heaven. I think that’s where she went”, Johnson said.
“Bossman”, Nosa crouched by his side. “I really don’t see how I can help. I’m out of that business. I’ve been thinking of something cool to do like open a club around this area. Exclusive bar or something. You can come and join the bachelor's group. All these secret lounge. I still have to finalise things with my wife, but it will be good”.
“What are you…” Johnson turned to Moriah. “What’s he saying?
Moriah shrugged. “Guessing he’s saying she left. Your wife. She left you and that’s not the first time things like this will happen in life”.
“Yes, she left me. That’s what I’m saying”.
“So, why not let her call you in her own time”, Nosa asked.
“She cannot call me. If anyone joins those people, they can’t come. Or they don’t…” Johnson cried.
Nosa could understand how he felt since he had experienced such pain before. The nagging pain would make you start imagining things that would never happen. Like the fact that you can see them soon. They are not coming. They’re coming. That’s them at the road. All sorts of imagination.
“Those people. The um. People talking about heaven are the ones that she went to.”
Nosa turned to Moriah. “what’s he talking about?”
Moriah shook her head.
“There is this group of people that said Jesus is coming this year. But they can only help those that come to the mission. No one knows where they are. But you can go to them by train. That’s how you can find them. “
Nosa gritted. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“Healings are happening. And the poor are been taking care of”
Nosa shrugged. “I don’t understand you one bit. But…Godspeed to them. And you too. Talk to the others. Deinde or Yusuf”.
“Deinde has joined them. In fact, it’s her face we see on the TV. No one knows the real leader. She’s always wearing veils. And her voice sef is always distorted”.
The breeze intensified.
“Let’s go inside”, Moriah said as she moved towards the door.
Johnson stump his feet. “No. We need to go and stop them before they get into that train…”
“I’m not going…” Nosa shook his.
Johnson lunged at his leg to grab it. Nosa jumped out of the way.
“Desperate much! Oga, your wife is gone. Nothing you and I can do”. At the same time, the breeze became colder and rain began to drizzle. “Even nature agrees with me. Come inside o before rain falls your hand”.

Chapter 2
The Chase

“One and Two and Three”, Shayla begin to sing with each step and luckily for her, it worked. Her baby had stopped crying despite the force of her race. But this was the best opportunity to escape from the people chasing her.
“Over there”, shouted one of her assailants.
Shayla didn’t need to look back to know that they would soon be hot off her tail. No room to give anything to chances. She sped on. The humming sound of the train could be heard in the background and that was what she needed to increase her speed. As she approached the top of the sloppy ground and could feel the train vibrating, she understood why the people that created the train chose their mantra: “the righteous shall take it by force”. For her to enter the train, she needed to use all the force in the world.
Despite having a baby on her back, none of them could match her pace in race or anything that could harm her. Her training as one of Fortune City's best assassins gave her more edges than they. If not for the baby, they would have been dead by now. Nothing, however, would make her risk her baby’s life or anything that could keep Nosa close to her heart. Even if she was foolish enough to try fighting, she wouldn’t be allowed by Rachael, with whom she was escaping those chasing them.
As she panted, scampered up the rocky ground, and weaselled through the bushes on their path in a bid to avoid hurting her baby, she wished her baby daddy, Nosa, was there. He always knew what to do. The only people that ever outwitted him were the women in his life- She, Chloe, and Moriah.
She would have been in his care now, but her life spiralled into a weird turn when Rachael told her some years back that some leaders in different churches had paid for her life because they wanted to cover their involvement in deceiving people of Green City about how they presented fake testimonies of their members seeing the heaven and used it as a marketing strategy. However, Rachael saved her life. She made her promise to never show her face again in Fortune City.
She should have gotten rid of the baby, but she just couldn’t because it was Nosa’s baby. As much as she pushed the thought away, she assumed it would give her an edge over his wife, Chloe King, or Moriah, the true love of his life. She had done everything to hold his attention- sex, manipulations, and tears, but his mind had always been with Moriah. But before everything ended, the only thing he cared about was her pregnancy because Chloe King lost their child.
So, that day when Rachael told her to leave Fortune City and pretended to kill her by shooting the ground around her, she couldn’t afford to put her baby or Nosa at risk by letting him in on what had happened to her.
She left Fortune City and began enjoying the black life of Ghana. In fact, she started taking some ground courses in their force because that was the best she could do. The only hiccup she had was when Rachael knocked on her door on December 25th. This scared her. But she came in peace and actually brought a lot of money, more than enough to carter for the little baby.
Rachael didn’t have to work, but Shayla wanted to because it made her feel human again. Unlike Rachael who had been in the assassination scene since she was 13 years, Shayla just got adopted by FALT (Fortune City Association of Life Takers) after viciously killing her rapist uncle and was sentenced to prison. Only for her to notice some people tracing her. At first, she thought someone in FALT had ratted her out. But their method was just so different and almost looked like the mediocre, Gragus Team, the second set of assassins that believed they could beat FALT.
That day she wanted to shake the tag off, she went everywhere and nowhere near her daughter, who was back home with the pregnant Rachael. Then, she entered a restaurant she knew like the back of her hand, and waited for him to follow her. Luckily, he did. She beat the information out of him and knew it was high time she returned to Fortune City, to Nigeria.
The dead body of the tag was like sugar for ants. Both police and Gragus Team were soon on her heels. She didn’t wait for them to catch her. With Rachael and her own daughter, she found her way back to Nigeria.
“If we will be doing this, you will follow my cue!” Rachael had told her just as they crossed the border that led from the other part of Nigeria to Fortune City.
“I just want to go into hiding!”
“Have you wondered why the Gragus Team would come finding you all the way in Ghana?” Rachael said.
Shayla shuddered. “I’m guessing they discover I was alive”.
“Alive. If I say you’re dead, then you’re dead”, Rachael said. “It’s more than that. If they were after you, it must be because of your baby. Someone else is pushing them for your baby.”
Shayla’s eye shone as she rocked the little angel, who had been wheezing for a while now. “The Gragus wouldn’t want my baby except if it’s something important”.
“Yeah!” Rachael said. “I’ve gathered some news and I think I know what is happening, but you have to follow my cue!”
“What’s happening?” Shayla shouted.
Rachael glared at her angrily. “You want to wake the baby”.
Shayla swallowed hard. “I hate all these. I hate my life. Why have I always not had peace? Who did I offend? It’s just the third day in 2018 and I feel like this year will be the worst ever.”
Rachael glanced at her. “You want to cry? Who doesn’t have it hard too? Everyone does. I’ve been kidnapped since I was 13 and I didn’t even remember until that girl called Grace hugged me and I remembered almost everything. So, I’ve been in love with the same man as my sister. I don’t even know if she’s my sister. I think she is. But not my sister. I can’t get the full image. But I’ve suffered more than most people. And here I am. Driving this expensive ride”. She pointed at someone at the end of the road. “I’m worse. And evil. Look at that man, he’s not killed, anyone”.
Shayla threw a you-can’t-tell look at Rachael.
“Even if he has, he couldn’t have killed as much as I”, Rachael added. “But I’m not gonna give up trying to be better. Nobody’s life is sweet or rosy, but we must embrace the pain and beat the evil out of our bedevilled lives”.
Shayla swallowed hard. And agreed to follow Rachael’s directive,
Now, Rachael was leading the way towards the humming train. She was still trying to understand what she wanted to do by bringing them to the train. However, Gragus Team was catching up with them, even as they raced towards the train.
“Up! Up! Rachael shouted. Her gun was drawn.
Shayla wasn’t by any means afraid because Rachael had been right all along. After all, Gragus's team were after her daughter and wouldn’t shoot her to get the baby.
“We’re jumping into the train!” Rachel announced as the incoming train hummed loudly, waking her baby. She had refused to give her an appropriate name. Rachael tried to name her Bidemi after the man she fell for, but Shayla didn’t like it. Even at that, she just referred to her as the baby.
“Give Bidemi here!” Rachael said. “I can go for the two of us!”
“The baby stays with me. That’s the only thing from Nosa. God! What am I doing?”
“Trust me!” Rachael said and snatched the baby out of her hand. “You have to either jump with her or I do. One way or the other, Bidemi is coming with us into this train”.
The Gragus team saw this and intensified their effort.
“Now!” Rachael jumped into the train and spun around with hands outstretched to catch Shayla, who flew into the hand. It would have looked like it was over but the Gragus team also jumped into the train from the tail of the empty train.
There was nowhere to turn to now. Rachael levelled her gun on their chest. “Any more step will see you visiting your ancestors today”.
“You’re where we want you to be”, the leader said as their team rested against the wall of the train, panting hard.
“Really?” Shayla said and looked at Rachael.
Rachael’s glare didn’t give up her emotion, but her eyes kept darting into the areas.
“When I tell you to jump, you go fast!” Rachael murmured.
Their humming training made it easy for her to get the words clearly.
“Yeah! I know! That’s why we came here!” Rachael said. This pricked the attention of their leader. The others were too tired to grasp any meaning from her word. Rachael turned toward Shayla and shouted. “Jump”.
The Gragus team didn’t have time to react before they jumped. Shayla’s fear couldn’t think of anything else that her daughter, whose wail rented the air. Luckily, Rachael pounced well and landed with her back and the baby on her chest.
“How?”
“Cold calculation,” Rachael said. “Let’s look for Nosa”.
“I don’t know where he is!” Shayla said sadly. “I didn’t want to know!”
“I know that too. We’re going to his house in the mountains”.
Shayla smiled before she could stop herself. She had always wanted to be invited there. They trekked a while then a car drove towards them.
“Did you know we will do this?” Shayla was stunned as the door opened to reveal. “Chioma”.
She was the secretary of the killers. Shayla was more surprised that Rachael was still in contact with Chioma now that she stole Chief Ajanaku's (their sponsor’s) money seeing that Chioma was Chief’s P.A. Chioma hurried towards Shayla and hugged her. “Good to see you”.
“You too!”
“How’s Bidemi?”
Chioma sighed. “After we caught him, he started working on the water car. I don’t think he’s making any headway. Once has been disturbing. I’ll kill him”.
“Please, don’t. It’s imperative Once is alive till I return. There’s important information I have to share”.
“Whatever, I’ve got to go. We miss you”, Chioma said.
“Where are you going now?”
“Chi, it’s on a need-to-know basis!”
“If you say so?” Chioma sighed.
Shayla knew everyone from FALT was resourceful but she was still sceptical. “How will you leave here? I don’t want them coming back for you!”
“I’ve made a plan with someone to pick me up in 10 minutes. You guys would be gone by then”, Chioma said.
Rachael patted her. “Thank you. Take care of Jessica for me. I will reach out to you guys when the time comes”, Rachael collected the key and drove off.
The journey was silent with Shayla nursing and breastfeeding her baby, who had a little scratch on her arm. Shayla cringed. Rachael didn’t go to the mountain at first. She packed and searched the car for any tracker and truly she found two.
“These children. They never learn”, Rachael said and drove off.
When they got to the mountain, her heart lurched. She never knew she would ever get a chance to step on the mountain. It felt like a sacred space to the Fortune City four and stepping into it was like entering their sacred space.
After Rachael had packed the car, Shayla's eyes rove the mountain.
“How do you know this place?”
“You too? Ask me questions that need real answers”.
Shayla looked at the beauty of the mountain and could see the white garment church on the other side of the mountain. She smiled. She looked up and could see three people talking, even as the sky thundered. Nosa must be among those talking. She wanted to run into his hands immediately and that was reflected in the way she climbed the steep steps of the mountain.
“Impossible!” Nosa’s voice echoed from afar. Her heart warmed up despite her poker face. Like a drugged maniac, Nosa yelled alongside the rain that started.
When Nosa met them, his excitement matched Moriah’s later met them. Despite the fact she had once threatened Moriah for being with Nosa, she still felt drawn to her. However, all they could do was share glances of appreciation.
Together, they all ran into the house as the rain intensified.
“Rain in January is odd! Odd!” Mr Johnson kept saying.
“Yeah! I told you! Your wife’s going to the train people is good!”
“You mean the train for people going to heaven?” Shayla asked.
“You know about it?” Moriah asked.
“More than you know!” Racheal replied and narrated their ordeal.
“Who’s their leader? The one they said was in a mask?” Nosa said as he rocked the baby.
“It’s Chloe Kings!” Rachael said, “She owns the group running things behind, Gragus Team and still had resources to take care of everyone that came to their camp”.

Chapter Three
A New Order

Chloe King’s eyes adjusted to the darkness in her prayer room, her solace whenever she tried to avoid seeing, hurting, or screaming at anyone, as was her nature. Several times, her assistant, Deinde took over several healing and prayer meetings while she was trying to calm herself down. Currently, she boiling from within and had been in this room since January 1st when Deinde brought the bad news to her. The active assistant was by her side. Easily placed at 5.6, Deinde’s slim body almost gave her a glorious body. Despite not wearing any jewellery or using make-up, her skin glowed, easily adorning her flowing long hair.
“What should we do, Mummy?” Deinde’s cracked voice coursed through the door. “Give the order already. Now that we know where they are, we can just go and start a war on their doorstep”.
Deinde didn’t worry about Chloe King’s anger. Her nonchalance made it easy to access her. She reminded Chloe of Nosa, her ex-husband.
“I wish we didn’t have to come to that”, Chloe grumbled as she caught sight of herself in the mirror. Everything that was meant to present vanity in her has been stripped of her. Her money would have gone too if not that she needed it to take care of everyone in the dungeon with her. Her desire to rid herself of vanity in her life was reflected in her clothing style. Grey and drab in all sense, her blouse matched her face. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, but that wasn’t enough to hide the glow on her body, like Deinde’s. Vanity also, she thought.
She turned to Deinde. “Get this mirror out of here…”
“Mummy, what do we do?” Deinde said calmly. No sense of arrogance.
“We must get them!” Deinde stared back at her. Chloe sensed some form of defence here. “What’s happening? You’re not moving. Get. Go and do everything possible to get them”.
“Mother, don’t you think… I still have my stance”.
“About…?”
“About all this debacle. We lost those people you sent to catch Nosa’s daughter, an innocent girl. Instead of our target”.
Chloe shook her head. “Trails and trials are the steps to success. Nosa would only come when we have something important. With Nosa, it’s important to get what we need?”
“I’m more-”
Chloe cut in. “- Moreover, getting what we need and the baby is like using one stone to kill a bird”.
“Still. We can do all we need”.
Chloe turned to her. She seemed to understand what Deinde meant but she didn’t want to heed her until she spoke her mind. Interestingly, Deinde has been talking frequently more than usual in recent times. It almost looked as if she wanted to undermine Chloe, but that didn’t rattle her because she was a King and an Obaigbenwen. Deinde won’t get a chance to take over her.
“Deinde, what are you saying exactly”, Chloe asked as she flipped the pages of her bible.
“We have Sammy!”
Chloe threw her a glance in disgust.
“Samuel” Deinde corrected herself since Chloe hated nicknames. It had some sense of ungodliness about it. Deinde had argued severally that it was a form of endearment, but Chloe wouldn’t hear such. It felt crude and wasn’t worthy of a child of God. Familiarity had always been the foundation for contempt, and there was no way she would be a party or a channel to bring it to life.
“What did Samuel do?”
“Samuel is good. Really good. The best in Fortune City”.
Chloe glanced at her bible and her eyes caught a chapter in 1st Peter that says she should answer with gentleness and respect. “How many times has he tried to hack her system?”
Deinde stared at her.
“You’re not saying anything?” Chloe’s smugness didn’t help the case.
“I don’t know… Maybe 10 or 20 or 40”.
“You know that it is several times than I can count the breathe I make in a minute”, Chloe said.
“But…”
Chloe raised her hand. “Don’t stress it. Everyone in Fortune City uses her. Gragus team. FALT. Top police officials. Even Nosa. And Nosa is the best in his line of work”.
Deinde looked away. Chloe wanted her to see her point of view. So, she jumped out of the chair she was seated in and hobbled to Deinde’s face.
“Look at me”. Chloe ordered and searched for an audience in Deinde’s hazel eyes.
“I hear you, Mummy”, Deinde grumbled.
“She’s the best. Accept that fact. If we want to achieve what we want in a few days, she’s the best”.
“Can’t you just pray her into the fold?” Deinde asked.
The tinge of curiosity blinked for her attention. Chloe smiled. “Get the boys and go”
“What’s Gragus and FALT”, Deinde asked.
Chloe didn’t see the need to explain this to her. If she hadn’t been listening to her talk about the two deadly assassin crew in Fortune City, she couldn’t be listening to her now.
“Get me Moriah!”
Deinde nodded, rolled her eyes, and turned away. “Yes, mother”.
“I saw that…” Chloe said. “Love is patient. So, am I”.

Chapter 4
Trojan Horse

Deinde Olufisayo wasn’t happy about the waste of resources for this crazy fantasy about heaven, but since it wasn’t her place to command Chloe Kings, she must ensure that she did everything to make the world pay for what they did to her sister. Her aunt had called her crazy for even thinking of such. In fact, she did more than call her they locked her in Fortune City's psychiatric home.
That was where she met Chloe Kings and Pastor Matthews. She was like their stooge. To the Yorubas, she might have been considered their Idowu because anywhere they went, she was behind them.
Before Chloe King escaped from the prison, Deinde was privy to it. And she was so sure that Chloe would come back for her. Eventually, when it happened, she came out. However, before that, she had gotten the audience of someone that came around to visit both Chloe Kings and Pastor Matthews- Chioma.
Chioma’s beauty was magnetic. But it was her ideas that hooked Deinde. Her ideas for now and the future were massive and immersive. And since then, she had always tried to gain her attention, but Chioma was always so interested in Chloe Kings. Sometimes, she talked to Pastor Matthews about a man called Bidemi Adeoti.
His name made her glow.
“I know you’re leaving here soon”, Chioma told Deinde some days after Madam Flourish escaped.
Deinde was stunned.
“And I know how you got here”, Chioma said. “And I must say it’s batshit crazy. How did you think that up?”
Deinde looked away, pained that she was being schooled by her idol.
“But…” Chioma placed her hands on Deinde’s shoulder. “I like your craziness. It will come in handy in my plans later for Fortune City. But I’m starting from Black Valley. You, on the other hand, will be in charge of Green Land. So, for now, I will orchestrate your release from here”.
Deinde could only nod. It was as if words were failing her. Chioma smiled and rubbed Deinde’s cheek. “Be good”.
“You too?”
Deinde wasn’t even sure if she wasn’t older than Chioma, but her hold on her was so bad that she could cling to the beautiful lady’s legs and ask to be taken wherever she was going.

So, the moment she left Chloe King’s dungeon, she called Chioma.
“We are still gunning for Nosa’s wife, Moriah”.
Chioma was silent on the other line for some moment.
“You’re not saying anything?” Deinde said. Even at that, Chioma refused to say anything. “I tried my best to convince her to keep using our guys, but she said some like some FALT group and Gra… something people use this person”.
“Wait! FALT and Gragus?”
“Yes! That’s just it”.
“That person must be really good!”
“So, she said”
“Can she be turned over to our cause?”
“I wouldn’t know. From all indications, she seemed like someone that can be bought”, Deinde explained.
“Then, why are you not trying to?”
The people praying loudly in the background made her hurry to the open door and shut it. That must have been opened down by one of the newbies she brought in. Amateurs.
“We’ve tried reaching out to her but nothing is working?”
“You keep telling me about your failure. I want some win”, Chioma barked at her.
“I’m doing my best”.
“Then, be good at it”
Deinde hated being in this position with Chioma. “I think I know what? Nosa. He’s the one. If we can get help in kidnapping him, then we can easily get her. She loves him, but hates the Mad Woman here”.
“Then, let’s get to it”.
“One little thing you might want to know. Some lady called Rachael came in with another one Shayla. They’re both here with Nosa’s daughter. If we get the child, we can get the man and get the hacker!”
“I don’t want her doing the bidding of Mrs Kings. I want her on my side for what’s to come. And Rachael. We might need to involve more than your guys. I will send my recruit. We might also need to involve the Gragus gang”.
“I’m sorry, but you’re making it look as if this Rachael is more than the name”.
“Her name is Rachael. She’s the best and it’s best not to undermine the people there. You said Rachael is there. Shayla is there. Nosa was a P.I and his wife’s a Hacker. You better get your team. I will get the Gragus team to work with us FALT”:
“You’re FALT?”
“Yes. I’m ruling it soon. It’s Fortune City Association of Life Takers”.
Deinde sucked in her breath. “Assassins?”
“The only and the best. Get to work”.
Deinde didn’t believe her ears. She knew Chioma had influence but never in this light. All she wanted was her power and a chance to carry out her vendetta in this world. But now that she knew the depth of her backup, she felt on top of the world.
Chloe Kings’ head popped in as the door opened. Her face looked like she had just seen a ghost. Words weren’t forming in Deinde’s head. She didn’t know the right word to say.
“I said it…” Chloe muttered as she came nearer.
For the first time, Deinde understood how this beautiful woman still wielded much power. The drab clothes should have made her look ugly. But it looked like a high resolution for her. All she could see were levels of awesomeness. Being a graphics designer herself, she had never seen someone that could look so awesome without any touch of colour.
“It’s not what you think!”
“I’m not called…”Chloe muttered and paused. “What do you mean by it’s not what I think?”
Deinde shook her head. “I was thinking of something else. What do you mean by ‘I’m not called”.
“Not working. I’ve been praying…”
Deinde moved nearer and placed both hands on Chloe’s shoulders. “I believe in God’s grace on you. If he says, it will happen, it will. Whatever you say in the name of Jesus, believing it and it so”.
“Maybe I’m doubting myself”.
“Yeah!” Deinde’s eyes widened as someone walked towards her. His lackadaisical attitude would have seen her kicking him out of the dungeon. She made eyes at the person. Then, she turned her attention to the insecure Chloe. “I will talk to the prayer warriors. Remember, this healing is just to help these people remain sane, everything will soon work in our favour. Here comes one…”
Chloe turned towards the man Deinde made eyes at and there he was on the floor, with folded legs. If she hadn’t seen him before now, she must have thought he was cripple from birth.
“Pray for him”.
Deinde shifted back and started recording with her phone. Chloe turned towards the man and began to pray for him. Deinde sensed her fear and began to say “amen” emphatically. Chloe began to command him to rise.
In no time, he was yelling. “I can walk”.
Deinde didn’t like the energy of this man she paid. So, she clapped her hands excitedly. “Glory! Glory!”
The man got the drill and went emotional.
“Oh! The God of Chloe King has done it”.
Chloe pointed towards heaven as she danced and rejoiced. The man kept shouting until some people came in and joined in praising God. Deinde’s clapping and shaking of head were done excitedly as she stared at Chloe kings.
“This is another sign”, Deinde said.
Chloe nodded. “The rapture is truly upon us”.
“Let’s save the children now when we can”, Deinde said.
Chloe shouted. “This is God’s message to us all. The rapture will come and we need to save souls. Children first”.
“Children first”!
“Children first”.
