... Olofa Applauds

The National Body of Offa Descendants Union (ODU) under the leadership of Alhaji Salako Olaniyi Azeez Muideen congratulates His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammed Gbadamosi Oloyede Okikiola, Ajagungbade I, Esuwoye II, the Olofa of Offa on the arrival of the Firefighter Truck from the Federal Fire Service to the newly established and about -to-be -commissioned Federal Fire Service, Offa Area Command, ahead of the commissioning of the command.

While receiving the key from the Kwara State Commandant of the Federal Fire Service, Mrs. Mary Bakare, Alh. Salako noted that the arrival of the truck in Offa is a testimonial to the spirit of collective efforts towards the development of Offa.

He recollected that ODU Kano Branch Chairman hinted him of the assorted efforts of well-meaning Offa individuals in securing a Command Office of the Federal Fire Service to Offa.

He remembered also, how he swung to action by briefing the current ODU National Executive and how the Secretariat wrote a letter notifying the Federal Fire Service Controller General of Offa Community's readiness to provide both the office and residential accomodations for the men of the service posted to the proposed Offa Command. This notification was a game changer.

The truck was delivered to the Union President by the Kwara Commandant of Federal Fire Service, on Saturday 4th February, 2023, who in turn handed same over to His Royal Majesty in trust for the community ahead of the commissioning date.

He commended the Federal Fire Service under the Ministry of Interior for such developmental interests and interventions for the ancient city of Offa.

Mrs. Bakare said the Service won't stop at giving Offa the firefighter truck but would also organize sensitization programme for the people of the community on fire prevention, among other good services to be rendered to the people.

She was accompanied by an Area Commandant of the Service, Ali Sikiru.

Speaking during the delivery ceremony, HRM, the Olofa of Offa praised the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Ministry of Interior under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the Controller General, Federal Fire Service for equipping Offa Community and its environs with the firefighter truck against fire inferno.

The National General Secretary of the Union Dr. Olusegun Ogungboye recalled that efforts of HRM, Oba Esuwoye II, who gave the marching order to the national ODU on the establishment of the Service Command and his fatherly role day and night are commendable.

Speaking further, he said the Asiwaju of Offa, Alh Tajudeen Owoyemi, was instrumental in connecting Alh. AWA Ibrahim who released a multi-million naira worth of property to temporarily host the Service, so as not to accommodate the truck.

He noted that Alh. AWA Ibrahim released the property with unexpected speed and joy that Offa is furthering in development.

Ogungboye described the ODU Global President as a goal getter who was ready to sacrifice all for the development and growth of Offa.

He recalled how the President could not stay with his family to celebrate his birthday, the first after becoming the ODU President because of this assignment.

According to him, Mr. President was on the road throughout his birthday this year navigating the offices of the Controller General and the Deputy Controller General North Central Zone handling the politics than ensued on the truck. This, according to the General Secretary, is in addition to the financial commitment involved.

Speaking further, the General Secretary said Mr. Kazeem Soladoye of the FFS, Kano Command is a super man and the man of the project as he stood as a good Offa Ambassador until the dream became a reality. The ODU is indebted to Soladoye's sense of belonging and commitment to Offa growth and development.

Chairman of ODU Home branch, Evangelist Ayo Ogunwole and Olofa's Chief of Staff Alh. Oyawoye were among the dignitaries at the mini ceremony to take delivery of the truck.

The commissioning date of the Command will be announced soon.
