Help Me Make A Choice Please in tech field by abfelicity91: 7:29am On Feb 05, 2023
Straight to the point, I always want to get a skill, programming
Honestly, I'm not good at computer yet, just want to start from the scratch.
.
Today I would say I want to learn graphic designer, other times I would say website designer, web development and all that.

I just have passion for tech but I don't a preferred field .

Which would you advice me to go with considering the fact that I'm not good at operating a computer fluently..
Help please

In Nigeria, we are paying 1k just to get fuel for kegs
Paying money just to receive the money you worked for.
So why would I be surprised by what you just said?
People always mock and take advantage of people's predicament instead of helping

No one is with joy here, bro grin grin
Don't mind me shaa. Here is the thing.

Consider your passions and what kind of work excites you, as you will likely be more successful and fulfilled in a tech field that aligns with your interests.

Think about the skills you already have, and how they could be applied in various tech roles. This can help narrow down your choices.

Research the job market and understand the demand for different tech specialties. This will give you a better idea of where you could have the most opportunities.

Talk to people in the tech industry and get their perspectives on different roles. They can offer valuable insights and advice.

Remember that the tech field is constantly evolving, and there will be opportunities for growth and advancement as you gain experience. Focus on building a strong foundation and the rest will follow.

We can't help you make a choice in tech. Knowing what you want has to be from you. What exactly do you have passion for and gives you drive? Your goals and aspirations? Let me give you a few clues.

- If you like aesthetics, functionality and colours ---UI/UX Design.
- If you like to make fine web ---> Front End Design.
- If you like logic + responsibility ---> Back End.
- If you like calculations/statistics/data ---> Data Science/Analysis.
- If you like being in charge ---> Product Manager.
- If you care a lot about security online ---Cybersecurity.
- If you love sleek designs ---> Graphics Design.
- If you like creating structures ---> Program Manager.

Then there's Software testing, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, IoT (Internet of things), Blockchain engineering, Data engineering etc. Ensure you go for the less saturated and high-end skills (if there's such a thing as that).

Don't enter tech because you see tech folks post their 6 fig salary

Find what works for you and do it
It can be woodwork , plumbing or web design

From all indications, you need a programming mentor to guide you and explain the ropes to you.

There is a road map, depending on your skill set, desire, Intellect or preference of IT career.
You may equally need a private tutor to help scale those long process/trial by error self taught programmers go through.

Dm me.

This answer " Consider your passions and what kind of work excites you, as you will likely be more successful and fulfilled in a tech field that aligns with your interests." is just what you need to hear.

But let me say something that might shock you or anyone reading this.

Follow your passion, let MONEY MOTIVATE YOU and have a side hustle SKILL to earn passive income.

Firstly,
What should be motivating you should be MONEY. Tech is hard, coding is hard. It's not for everyone. When you feel like giving up, just remind yourself of how much you can be making in tech and how you that money can change your family and financially free. This thought should be what should be on your mind anything you feel like giving up.
In addition, go to freelance job boards like upwork, Fiverr, freelancer, peopleperhour or job boards like Indeed and on LinkedIn and careful observe which tech jobs people are hiring or posting they need them the most.

Secondly,
Have a skill that can bring regular income as a side hustle when learning to code or whatever you choose to learn in Tech.

For me, am a freelance writer, editor, Ghostwriter and smart contract developer.

I write articles for people in their magazines, blog posts, ghost writer for people, write ebooks and books for those into Amazon Kindle publishing, code crypto smart contracts for Defi and NFT projects.

Some days I get jobs that pay $500 per article, $1200 per article, $500 per Ebook etc but the main thing is I use this to sustain myself before my tech salary comes at the end of the month.
I then use this money to invest in myself by purchasing online courses to be a better developer. INVEST IN YOURSELF.

But something I recently got to realize is to have an online presence. This is what people can use to discover you. How I wish I knew this earlier, but currently you can find my recent article on medium.com/@bloomsburypublishing to see what kinds of articles I write about.

Thirdly,
Try and notice the jobs people are mostly hiring for, because it's one thing to follow your passion and it's another thing to see jobs in those areas of your expertise.

Also try joining some IT communities on discord, they usually have the latest update to tech and jobs.
TWITTER is where you should be. There you can easily spot out tech jobs in demand and also meet like minded people in your field.

Finally,
If you're looking for a platform where you can directly get access to the CEOs of tech companies and even get direct access to project managers and recruiters to hire you..be on LINKEDIN.

You can get direct personal access to almost all the companies there.
