Why Would CBN Denied Given Instructions To Commercial Banks On Old Notes by INTEGRITYA1(m): 6:24pm On Feb 19, 2023
On the 17th of February, 2023. Atmosphere was so tensed at CBN branches across Nigeria States; while people visited CBN branches to deposit their old 500 and 1000 notes in accordance with CBN directives.

There were protests in some states when angry customers could no longer deposit their old notes with Commercial Banks as a result of deadline set by CBN.

Nigerians were rejecting old notes for commercial activities and there was serious pressure on what could be the faith of those that still have old N500 and N1000 notes in their possession.

Then there was breaking news that CBN have directed commercial banks to start receiving the old notes with immediate effect and there was a sign of relief and calmness.

But there was serious confusion again on that same 17th of February after another breaking news that the earlier directives that commercial banks should start collecting old notes was not emanated from CBN.

On that same 17th of February (Friday), there was email messages that was sent across to commercial banks customers to start bringing their old N500 and N1000 notes for deposit, which implied that they must have been instructed by CBN before such sensitive messages would be sent out. For the fact that commercial banks takes instructions from CBN alone.

So fellow Nigerians and to as many that are still with old N500 and N1000 notes.

It's obvious from the reports that; commercial banks have been directed to start collecting the old notes and no cause for alarm whatsoever.

Let endeavor to take our old notes to our banks respectively and let shun any form of violence or attacks on commercial bank facilities or bank staffs.

Let follow the CBN guides on how to deposit our hold notes with Commercial Banks and let educate people around us on the directives and procedures.

Let shun violence
Let say no to confusions.

Let keep our atmosphere peaceful; as we are preparing for our Presidential Election.

God Bless Nigeria.
