Mobil Oil Nigeria was headquartered in a rented house at Broad Street by Bookshop House, Lagos.

A young financial engineer had chosen to come home to work with them as an Auditor.

He was not part of the management team but he had a member of the management team who loved him and was very close to him.

He was his mentor.

The management was made up majorly of foreign oil and gas experts of international repute.

Not long after he resumed work, he discovered that the oil giant firm was a mere tenant at Broad street.

He would come from his Balarabe Musa street residence at V.I and arrived office early enough to send his ‘aburo’ who was living at Kakawa street behind Mobil office to get him hot amala from a woman whose amala one couldn’t get to buy a minute after 9am. (Hmmmmn. That reminds me of my mother whose rice you couldn’t get after 11am. Blessed women.)

If you missed it early in the morning, you can only have a taste of it the following morning.

In most cases, that his mentor was always with him whenever they chose to send the boy their favourite.

One morning, he told the mentor that he wanted Mobil to leave the rented house and own its headquarter building.

The man looked at the younger man with a look of dismissal but he insisted that he helped him brief the management.

He continued to pester him until the mentor agreed and tendered it before the management.

They dismissed it too.

But the mentor was pestered again. I do not know if the hot amala played any magical role in this.

He presented it again and they summoned the young staff to present his proposal.

They saw it but told him that their international head office would not approve it because it looked impossible…like where would the funding come from?

He then put his job at stake. He said that if he failed in the project, he should be relieved of his job and all his benefits forfeited.

It was written and they forwarded it to their head office in US.

It was approved.

Lo and behold, he had studied the financial architecture of the company and found out that the company had Unclaimed Dividend in very huge amount.

That was what he tapped into.

Let me shock you, please:

He did not even touch his capital, the company’s Unclaimed Dividend, he quickly invested it in New York Stock Market and the profit that was rolling in became the fund needed to build the headquarters at Victoria Island.

He also foresaw a possible inflation in the course of building the project so he got 4 warehouses in Apapa and purchased over 90% of the materials that would be needed for the massive construction work.

The stunned management, after recovering from the shock of the ingenuity of this young financial wizard promoted him four steps over.

They also awarded him four gas stations in the United States of America.

(one of my friends on this cyber street worked in one of the stations but I won’t mention his name- he could identify himself if he sees this post).

He enjoyed other benefits as compensation for making them own a headquarter building without touching a kobo of their working capital or real profit and not even the real unclaimed dividend but the profit made from its investment.

That was one of the reasons the company left vacant his office for some years hoping that he’d come back if he failed in his political sojourn but unfortunately for them but fortunately for Lagos, he never came back to them.

That his mentor is Chief Pius Akinyelure and this ‘aburo’ is today a Professor, a retiree of a federal government agency and a diehard Arsenal fan who always run into trouble with Asiwaju any time Arsenal won a game against Manchester United.

Two other friends of mine here were there live when this story was told and as we were being told, I was recording it in my natural tape sited in my grey matter.

This is the project we are marketing to Nigerians.

Fellow Nigerians, as God lives and His Spirit lives, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will march into victory and relief shall come.

Good morning to progressives alone.

Good bless my fellow progressive
