So someone I know from afar just told me he wants to sell his YouTube channel, it’s a comedy channel with over 2.5k followers with about 9 videos but less than 2k views.

I usually buy bike for higher purchase but I’m having a second thought to buy the YT channel.

Is it profitable to buy YT channel now?

I could take out time to create and post TECH videos but I don’t know how profitable that will be as well.

Now the asking price for the channel is 450k
Is it too much and how much should I buy it if I make up my mind?

It is profitable at the long run if you can keep up with the contents... Ask yourself, can you keep up with the comedy niche on which the channel was built upon
Are you sure his traffic is organic?
Has the channel received a strike before
How much income has the channel generated thus far?



Put so many things into consideration... And the channel is too expensive for 450k if it has not made up to 100 to 200 dollars yet

Why don’t you just create a new channel…

Don't buy, if u re paying dat much for a YouTube channel u might as hell buy a YouTube channel that's worth it, this particular one a comedy skit with less than 2k views is not worth it, buy a YouTube channel that already well renowed and has larger views cos that how u monetize it

There are many determining factors to be considered.
1. For a YouTube channel to be montized, you need at least 1 k subscribers and 4, 000 watch hours. Like you highlighted above, he has 2.5 k subscribers, and less than 2k views. So therefore. Less than 2k view can't catch up to 4,000 watch hours. Know that.
2. You said it is a comedy channel, and you want to transmogrify the channel to a tech one. Note that some already Orthodox subscribers may not be tech guys, therefore leading to unsubscribing.
3. He probably got that 2. 5 k subscribers maybe from a lucky shorts he posted, because shorts go viral more than vidoes in the watch feed.
4. I don't think that your friend loved you, to intend selling that kind of channel for 500k ( too too exbortant)

I came here seek for advice on way to go, nobody gave me attention. I went back, studied the system with loss here and there. Now I can say proudly I am expert in YouTube.
6. Lastly, put your mind in it. YouTube is
money. Createe a new one. Then grow it. Don't rush it, be patient, because YouTube must frustrate you. Just few gets lucky, because your patience will be truly tested. Remember this my last words. I wish you grace.

That's the attitude of the average Nigerian. Always looking for ways to take advantage of people.

Dear op, if you value your mental health, stay away from that channel. Start your own tech channel, grow it and monetize it.

Channel that are sold for that price are channel that would be generate atleast half of the money in 3 months.

Your idea of changing it to a Tech channel is where you will even get it all wrong.

Tech and comedy are two different categories and YouTube will demonetize it asap for creating non niche based content.

Plus you loose subscribers in max because it isn't tailored to what your audience are interested in.

Aside that channel with 9 vids, 2.5k and 2k views ain't worth 10K. Yes na me talk am. I know someone currently who bought a channel with over 1.5k subs with 4k watch hour reached for 10k only...


My advice:

- Start a new YouTube channel on something you have passion for.

- Create atleast one video daily or atleast one video per week for if it exceeds 7 days you loose viewers that have watched your video the past 7 days. That how the yt algorithm works.

- If you want to go viral fast/within a short period of time; create reaction videos for tech i.e YouTube shorts. Shorts video go viral than the usual long content vids.

- Get a good YouTube course the best way to do things with a proven process or you go the free method (watching different YouTube course videos on YouTube).

- Lastly patience is key. Keep your expectations low so that the let's downs won't hit you as hard.

I can't explain everything in a snap but don't buy that channel or 6 months after you have gotten a clear idea on how YouTube works you would be looking for your friend with a gun for robbing you of your 500k
