Serial presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar once again lost out in the February 25th presidential election.

Fortune failed to smile at him this time around again. Atiku, since 1993, has continued to eye the presidency seat but has been unsuccessful.

Running for President six times — 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023 — was fraught with many of the same hurdles.

He has contested six times for presidential tickets. On February 25, it was the third time he lost a presidential contest.

At 76, this may be Atiku’s last attempt at having a shot at the presidency.

The former Vice-President first ventured into politics in the 1980s when he campaigned for Bamanga Tukur, a former Governor of old Gongola.

Here is a timeline of presidential elections and primaries that Atiku contested in and lost:

1. In 1993, he contested the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential primaries losing to Moshood Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe.

2. He was a presidential candidate of the Action Congress in the 2007 presidential election coming in third to Umaru Yar’Adua of the PDP and Muhammadu Buhari of the ANPP.

3. He contested the presidential primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2011 presidential election losing out to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

4. In 2014, he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015 presidential election and contested the presidential primaries losing to Muhammadu Buhari.

5. In 2017, he returned to the Peoples Democratic Party and was the party presidential candidate during the 2019 presidential election, again losing to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

6. In May 2022, he was elected as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general election after he defeated Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, in the primaries. But he lost to the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

I pitied his wife. She's a supportive woman cos the losing became spiritual at some point.
What baffled me was when I saw Dino by his side. Dino the thief that ll soon go n beg APC. A baboon that is always hungry!

If he had served Obasanjo well, Obasanjo would have made sure he came to be president then.
