When did the Khazar empire end?
When Svyatoslav, the ruler of Kiev, launched a campaign against the Khazars (965), Khazar power was crushed. Biblical, Historical, And Scientific Conclusions
These scientific studies, along with historical records of the Khazarian conversion to Judaism firmly conclude, Ashkenazi Jews are not the descendants of ancient Israelites. This reality invalidates the “Rhineland Hypothesis,” and indicates Ashkenazi Jews are a mix of various peoples who adopted Judaism throughout history.

The Bible also confirms this, as Ashkenazi Jews do not meet the Biblical requirements to claim God’s everlasting covenant to Abraham. Ashkenazi Jews are not many nations, many people, neither do they bless the nations of the world, nor possess the gate of their enemies.

Moreover, most Jews are atheists, few are religious, and most importantly, even less have accepted Jesus Christ.

Why It Matters
For generations, Christians have shown their admiration and support for Jews thinking they are God’s chosen people. This has led to an outpouring of support for Israel from the Christian community and the United States.

History should be corrected, and Christians should understand who they are supporting and reflect on why.

As Christians, our goal is to properly understand the Bible, and this subject goes a long way to accomplish that. It helps us realize God’s everlasting covenant is alive today. In fact, it is even fulfilled in those who call on the name of Jesus Christ, (Romans 4:11-18; Galatians 3:28-29).

Forensic scientists have once again concluded that the Shroud of Turin, supposedly the burial cloth Jesus was wrapped in after his crucifixion, was artificially created.

The Shroud, which is kept in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy, has long been a subject of controversy within the Catholic community. Believers say its stains are the blood of Jesus, while others have questioned whether the stains are even blood at all.


The new research is in line with numerous previous studies that have concluded that the Shroud is not authentic. Earlier carbon dating work has determined that it dates to 1260 to 1390; Jesus is generally believed to have died in the year 33. And a blue ribbon panel called the Turin Commission concluded in 1979 that stains on the garment are likely pigments, not blood, while textiles experts and art historians have suggested that the materials and images are not from the right era.

As early as 1390, about 35 years after the Shroud first emerged in France, Pierre d'Arcis, the Catholic bishop in Troyes, wrote to Pope Clement VII that the shroud was "a clever sleight of hand" by someone "falsely declaring this was the actual shroud in which Jesus was enfolded in the tomb to attract the multitude so that money might cunningly be wrung from them."

The researchers noted today (Mar. 17) in PLOS Genetics that "An important function of the nose and nasal cavity is to condition inspired air before it reaches the lower respiratory tract."

They considered a variety of nose measurements, looking at the width of the nostrils, the distance between nostrils, the height of the nose, nose ridge length, nose protrusion, external area of the nose and the area of the nostrils. The measurements were made using 3D facial imaging.

Differences in the human nose may have accumulated among populations through time as a result of a random process called genetic drift. However, divergent selection -- variation in natural selection across populations -- may also be the reason that different populations have differing noses. Teasing the two apart is difficult, especially in humans.

The researchers found that the width of the nostrils and the base of the nose measurements differed across populations more than could be accounted for by genetic drift, indicating a role for natural selection in the evolution of nose shape in humans. To show that the local climate contributed to this difference, the researchers looked at the spatial distribution of these traits and correlated them with local temperatures and humidity. They showed that the width of the nostrils is strongly correlated with temperature and absolute humidity The researchers noted that "the positive direction of the effects indicate that wider noses are more common in warm-humid climates, while narrower noses are more common in cold-dry climates."

"It all goes back to Thompson's Rule (Arthur Thompson)," said Shriver. "In the late 1800s he said that long and thin noses occurred in dry, cold areas, while short and wide noses occurred in hot, humid areas. Many people have tested the question with measurements of the skull, but no one had done measurements on live people."

One purpose of the nose is to condition inhaled air so that it is warm and moist. The narrower nostrils seem to alter the airflow so that the mucous-covered inside of the nose can humidify and warm the air more efficiently. It was probably more essential to have this trait in cold and dry climates, said Shriver. People with narrower nostrils probably fared better and had more offspring than people with wider nostrils, in colder climates. This lead to a gradual decrease in nose width in populations living far away from the equator.

Shriver notes that this is not the only explanation for nose-shape variation in humans. The researchers also found differences between men and women in nose features across the board. This sexual dimorphism is not unusual, as human men tend to be larger than human women, and their noses would be larger as well.

He thinks another way that the cross-population differences in nose size may occur is through sexual selection. People may choose mates simply because they find a smaller or larger nose more attractive. If an entire group thinks small is better, then those with large noses will have less success in reproducing and fewer large-nosed people will be in the group. Over time, the nose size in the group will shrink relative to other groups where large noses are favored. These notions of beauty may be linked to how well-adapted the nose is to the local climate.

Ecological selection and sexual selection could reinforce each other, according to the researchers. However, whether this connection between the two types of selection was important in the evolution of the nose requires further investigation.

The Mishnaic tractate Negaim (“Blemishes”) offers one of the few insights into the rabbinic conceptions of race, or rather, distinct human skin colors. The tractate itself deals with various forms of tzara’at, a leprosy-like disease mentioned in the Torah portions Tazria and Metzora. In this context, Negaim 2:1 explains that “the bright [tzara’at] spot in a germani appears as dull white, and the dull white spot in a kushi appears as bright white. Rabbi Ishmael says the children of Israel … are like boxwood, neither black nor white but of an intermediate shade.”

On one level, this mishnah deals with a purely clinical challenge — how to diagnose tzara’at on various shades of skin. Yet it can also help us better understand our ancestors’ relationship to the modern concept of “race,” a category they didn’t share.

But the Mishnah does not only differentiate Jews from members of the Germanic tribes. It also states that a Jew’s skin is unlike that of a kushi. Even though it can be seen that some European
