The ban comes after Cabinet Office Ministers ordered a security review. This looked at the potential vulnerability of government data from social media apps on devices and risks around how sensitive information could be accessed and used by some platforms.

Given the potentially sensitive nature of information which is stored on government devices, government policy on the management of third party applications will be strengthened and a precautionary ban on TikTok on government devices is being introduced.

Currently there is limited use of TikTok within government and limited need for government staff to use the app on work devices.

This decision is in line with similar restrictions brought in by key international partners, including the US and Canadian governments, and the European Commission.

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden said:

The security of sensitive government information must come first, so today we are banning this app on government devices. The use of other data-extracting apps will be kept under review.

Restricting the use of TikTok on Government devices is a prudent and proportionate step following advice from our cyber security experts.

TikTok requires users to give permission for the app to access data stored on the device, which is then collected and stored by the company. Allowing such permissions gives the company access to a range of data on the device, including contacts, user content, and geolocation data.

The government, along with our international partners, is concerned about the way in which this data may be used.

Today’s ban does not extend to personal devices for government employees, ministers or the general public. Individuals should be aware of each social media platform’s data policies when considering downloading and using them.

The ban on government devices applies to government corporate devices within all government departments.

Specific exemptions for the use of TikTok on government devices are being put in place where required for work purposes.

Exemptions will only be granted by security teams on a case-by-case basis, with ministerial clearance as appropriate, and with security mitigations put in place.

These exemptions will cover areas such as individuals working in relevant enforcement roles, or for example for the purposes of work on online harms.

I hate that app with everything inside me. It does nothing but teach kids how to sexualize themselves. It's sickening...all the girls are posting videos intentionally without wearing bras showcasing their nipples and doing breast twerking, advertising themselves to the highest bidder. Small small children. Personally, I think it should be seriously moderated especially in a country like this that we need the youth to be forward thinking. The cons outmatch the pros.

LoL those foøls saying they hate the app above me, I ask: why do you hate it? You'll probably give me some mundane reasons. What's the difference between TikTok and Snapchat owned by the US? Not to much. So if I get y'all correctly, your hate for TikTok is because it belongs to the Chinese and not from US/West. Foolishness is applauding this ban while continuously using Twitter/Facebook etc that's also stealing your datas grin.

This is nothing but power/Chess play between world powers which makes me laugh so hard at delusional Africans that cannot build a world recognized Social App, make unnecessary noise about this as if they're really that important in the grand scheme of things in the world grin

For all those guys above me.
You want tiktok to be banned in Nigeria and Facebook, Instagram, Codedruns, Runsgram, Gigolive, So many more of them be exempted?

If u want our youths to burn this country ban the following Apps:
Facebook
Instagram
Tiktok
Twitter
Snapchat
and all other Social Media Apps.
Remember Tiktok has indirectly employed more Youths in Nigeria than all government agencies, companies and organizations.

So, even if UK, US bans all these apps Nigeria can never try it.

I think regulating it will be better, cos that app is what brings food to the table of most youths, banning it will increase criminality that has drastically reduced, for instance, you will see a known tout on the App doing his thing by creating content which the likes of followers of his type really enjoyed and he makes money from it cos he's got enoughs followers... That kind of person, what he does for fun or survival on street without any returns, tiktok has created an opportunity for them to make money from such act, and most of them are now leaving crime for legitimate income..

See them mumus happy TT will get banned it won’t. It’s just a motjon yet and the ban is because governments are scared tiktok is exposing them. If not for tiktok peter obi wouldn’t have gotten half of half of the votes he got. Look how they arrested andrew tate, tiktok has exposed the crimes of the government and it has gotten out of control for them. I have learnt more in tiktok than i ever did my whole years in school. It is on tiktok i saw firsthand how papers are made, i actually tot it’s Just tiny pieces of word gummed together. Lol

it means you are on tiktok and you always watch girls on video without bra because the app uses specific algorithm to show different content to different individuals according to their need

You can always delete the app if you don't need it , Facebook and instagram collect more information than tiktok

Boss to be real and sincere.. Last month was my first month of trading.. So I started from trading everything tradable b4 narrowing my pairs to Nasdaq, jpypairs and Gold...

I Day trade (I tried holding a trade overnight once the swap fee was crazy)

My entrys were made at the 15 minutes and 1hour timeframes. I often look at the higher timeframes like monthly, Daily and weekly for trend direction and market sentiments.

I read
The 10 essentials of forex trading by (Jared F Martinez)
Top Down Analysis on The Financial markets by (Ref Wayne and Bafena Masilela)
Trading in the zone by (Mark douglas)
Babypips pdf (was fortunate to find it in the telegram group)

I got that eureka moment yesterday when I started reading (Market structure and powerful setups) spotted most of my mistakes lol.
I watch a lot of YouTube videos too.. I paid little money to a guy to get a link containing Momo's course also.

Summary from above I didn't go with a plan.. I was practicing what I learnt didn't know I would do so good.. But if am to partake on any competition again.. I would have a plan on my entry strategy, money management strategy, Risk management and Psychology written down on a Book and revisited every day b4 I start trading. When I go against it I would stop trading for d day.
