Why would humans choose to invest draconicly in weapons than feed the poor in the world

How come humanity chose to build destruction machines instead of really fighting porverty or atleast invest in that which suggests or promotes peace ?

Because human nature for most people is to oppress others when they have enough food to eat and are comfortable, then this leads to getting the best weapons to help them to oppress others so that others don't oppress them.

If you don't have money for weapon, your country will disappear from the face of the earth. If Nigeria did not have weapon, Cameroon won't stop at Bakassi alone. Boko Haram would have reached the Southern ocean coast of Nigeria.

Considering the age and vastness of only our galaxy, it would be quite selfish to think we're the only intelligent beings here in our galaxy talkless of the entire universe. Many galaxies are older than us by billions of years meaning civilizations there have had more time to evolve and would be more advanced than us

We can't exactly know. Put yourself in an Alien's spaceship somewhere in deep space observing humanity for the past 1000 years, what would you do when you get here? They already know about our propensity for violence so they know that's the language we understand, unfortunately. Images from the Hubble Space Telescope that wowed us for decades now look like shit. The next telescope is the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, the better our technology gets at viewing deep space, the closer we will be at discovering evidence of life on other planets. Imagine some other advanced civilization mapped the earth about 1 billion years ago, if they hadn't discovered life elsewhere, they might also conclude that they'd be alone in the universe. The diversity of life on earth alone is enough for you know know that that diversity cannot be limited to the earth alone. Scientists have theorized that in any star system, life can evolve in the Goldilocks zone or habitable zone i.e not too close or too far from the sun for the availability of water.
