Don't feed company's data to chatGPT

Don't put any proprietary or confidential data of any kind to chatGPT

The same story happened to Samsung in which some other companies now following example - they allowed their staffs to use chatGPT to enable them to write better code by doing so, employees put proprietary code and how that code is in the hands of openAI.

The most important thing to note here doesn't just apply to code but anything which might be personal for example a blog post by doing so you're handling over your data to openAI.

This does not mean that openAI is intentionally stealing IP and data from its user.

It means that the users of chatGPT and DALL-E are not fully aware of what these tools are for and what happens when you input data to them.

To explain further,

ChatGPT and DALL-E are research project built by openAI
They are used to look at how users can interact with these models

And when you write content specifically using the services, openAI has the right to look into your content, go through the output and use it to improve their services. It was clearly stated by openAI: When you use our non-API consumer services, chatGPT and DALL-E, we may use the data you provide us to improve our models

However you have two options

You can use the API instead of chatGPT. The API is a commercial service. So if you put data in there it isn't monitored by openAI

Or you can opt out from data tracking through a form (you'll find it via their terms of services)

The bottom-line is if you're working with company's data or any proprietary or important data of any kind don't use chatGPT

Instead use one of the two options listed above or better yet set up your own instance of the openAI API in a secure space like Microsoft Azure.
