See a reply I gave regarding the Working Holiday Visa on an earlier post.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=72931.msg1402484#msg1402484

I hope it is helpful in understanding more about the WHV.

I don't know how you can get work with a visiting visa. I guess others can tell you more.

Re: @akolawole,vor,funkybabe, Mr Pataki And Other Lecturers On This Land by mrpataki(m): 10:57pm On Oct 06, 2007
''Arrangee" is a term derived from the word ''arrange''. It simply means organising/fabricating/cookingup a thing in the absence of the original.

Hope you are in the clear now. smiley

Hello Guys,

Its been a long silence from my end. I travelled to a quiet place without no internet connection. And i will soon be back to the place but i will like to let the house know how far i av gone about my Working Holidaymaker Visa.

My application was refused with baseless excuses:

That I am yet to serve and i did not produce any permission letter from NYSC that i can be allowd to travel out of the Country for 2 years.

And also that I submitted a photocopy of my Mum's bank statement which is a lie, i sumitted both photocopy and original because that was the instruction at Visa application center.

And that my Uncles bank account shows availabe funds for the sponsorship but his tax clearance was a photocopy and that alone cannot back up his employment. Whereas it was bordly written on the bank statement " Executive savings and Current Account- Staff" and even his promotion letter from the bank my Uncle is working was attached too, but still the ECO claims He/She is not satisfied with the source of money in his account.

I have appealled and have sent the forms to AIT direct, am just hoping they will treat my case very fast.

NB: It was stated on my application that I will travel to UK and come back to Nigeria next year March for my NYSC, because as at the time i applied, the time interval between then and march was almost 6 months and since it is not a crime not to spend the whole 2 years in the UK, i Believe i can still go and come back, but the ECO's view was not the same as mine.

why i am writing this is just to enlightened anybody that is about to follow my footstep should watch out! actually i am not regretting my action ooooooo, because i know that with God by my side, i will surely win_ INSHA JESUS!!!where there is a will, there is a way.My God never fails!

Guys, i must confess, these OYINBO people dey rake monii 4 Nigeria oooooooooo. Even with complete documents, they will intentionally commit an error, claiming it was an oversight, God go save us all ooooooo.They are toying with my hard earn over 100K all expenses all together!
Some of us get geniue intention why we wan travel, but these congo-head pimps, na war oooooo lipsrsealed shocked grin grin shocked

peace and 1 Lov.

@siena
Trust you are doing good. I have been quite busy. I think what the poster meant by 'arrangee' in the context of this post is that he wants to come to uk, work, make a lil dough and come back to nigeria.
You've not been to nigeria in years?? Wow!! You should try to come around, even if its just for two weeks. Come and experience 'disorderliness' at its peak. It will make you appreciate uk more, lol,

@guseman
I did not know that this thread was back. I would have advised you on how to go around things. You know i told you if you look at my earlier post that you should not waste your time and money that you will not be given. British embassy takes NYSC seriously cos they are fully aware that it is a mandatory requirement by law for all naija graduates. Had it been you were on I.T or done with nysc, and you had a little job doing, you would have had a better chance of getting the visa. Even your chances at the appeal is quite slim cos they will hammer on that nysc issue. They know very well that NO nysc official will give you a letter of exemption addressed to the embassy and if you forge it, you will be caught. All the excuse of bank statements was just 'jare' on the refusal letter to make it look full and comprehensive. You will probably be told at the appeal that it is because of the high rate of unemployment in naija and your inability to get a job here is your main reason for applying for the WHV.

This is my humble opinion though. Cheers!

Funky/Guseman

Is it compulsory that one does national service immediately after graduation?
I always thought that you only needed to do it if you intend to take up employment
in Nigeria after graduation.

I mean what about students who wish to proceed immediately after graduation to the UK for a PG degree
without having done the National service. Does the High Commission refuse to give them a visa if they
haven't done the NYSC?
Re: @akolawole,vor,funkybabe, Mr Pataki And Other Lecturers On This Land by ty4real(m): 8:28am On Dec 13, 2007
I think guys on this forum should really enlighten us more on this WHM visa especially Nigerians that I have been issued this visa,casue am beginning to think it is an idea set up by the BDHC to dupe young Nigerians of their money,when they know that tecnically Nigeria is a member of the commonwealth and in reality they will never allow them to benefit from this Scheme,Why include Nigeria? and Pls I want people on this forum to talk serious talks about it cause the rate at which they are refusing people who apply for this visa is alarming and they keep giving flimsy excuses.Pls I dont want a link that will just give a surface description of what the scheme is all about.

They said u ve not gone for service and I have seen a refusal of the same kind for the same visa where this folks said you are leaving the security of your job to go on holiday for an extended period of 2yrs cant one decide how he/she want to live his or her life!

Next time they should simply say,I am not giving you this visa for personal reason best known to me!

My question is " do they expect us to be idle when applying for the visa and if you do apply without showing prove that you are economically active,You give them a solid reason to refusal YOU! shocked shocked.
soembody should please give an inside education on this visa apart from the rubbish they write about it on their official website,we wam\nt to know the politics going behind it issuance,Nowhere on the requirement does it state that you have to have a previous immigration history and yet they bring such things up!.
[b]They should scrap the thing off the visa appilcation forms being used in Nigeria if they are not ready to issue to naijas here!Chikena cool cool cool cool cool cool

@VOR
Egbon, its been quite a while. How's are you? From the little i know, NYSC is a requirement that BHC considers. ALL my friends presently studying for their postgraduate degrees and those that are through ALL did the NYSC programme. From what i know,there is a space in the student visa form where applicants are asked what they have been doing prior to the student visa application. Naturally, you are expected to say you've been serving, gainfully employed or any other reasonable excuse. NYSC might not be an issue with the embassy assuming you finish your first degree say in july this year and you intend going for your masters september of that same here. So you might just be able to explain/convince them on why you are not ready to serve.

On the other hand,it is advisable to have the nysc certificate because one never knows what the future holds. You might have the opportunity of getting a ministerial or political appointment or a very well paying job in naija and you might be asked to present your certificate or lose the offer. Like i said earlier,the damn thing is mandatory by law in naija and most organisations including BHC are fully aware of this.
Re: @akolawole,vor,funkybabe, Mr Pataki And Other Lecturers On This Land by mrpataki(m): 6:55pm On Dec 14, 2007
@ funkybaby,

The BHC does not consider the NYSC! Trust me, I know what I am saying here. All that matters to them is that you have to be accountable for every moment/time spent. Before you apply for any visa.

Sorry I have not called you all the while. Ma binu oh

There is nothing you can do, it possible your postal address is not in order. You may need to find out whether you wrote it out correctly to them.

More importantly, you can give them a call to know how far.
Re: @akolawole,vor,funkybabe, Mr Pataki And Other Lecturers On This Land by guseman(m): 1:20pm On Jan 09, 2008

Thanks big bros.The address i wrote is right i appreciate your concern.
I was at the post office this morning to check my box but no mail from AIT yet but i Asked the postmaster and He said He is sure they deliver the mail cos it is a registered mail.
