Vital Information must be in your offer letter before you accept it.

👉Position/Title.

👉Proposed Resumption Date

👉 Address of Office

👉Name of Company/Letter Head

👉 Business Operations Summary

👉Nature of Work (Remote, Hybrid, or Onsite)

👉Name/Position of Supervisor.

👉Full-Time/Part-Time Schedule.

👉Exempt/Nonexempt Classification

👉 Job Responsibilities.

👉Bonus/Commissions.

👉Base Salary with salary breakdown variables

👉Compensation, benefits, and terms.

👉Facilities and incentives, mandatory health insurance, loans, and reimbursement.

👉Leave Policy and allowance for paid and unpaid Leave.

(Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Maternity Leave & any Leave components).

👉A statement of at-will employment.

👉Probation Clause and Policy.

👉Confidentiality/Invention Assignment Agreements.

👉Non-compete Clause.

👉Non-Solicit Agreement.

👉Prior Employer Confidential Information/Restrictions.

👉Contingencies. State that the offer is contingent upon a background check clearance, reference check, and satisfactory (for an organization that will do a background check).

👉An employee confidentiality agreement and non-compete clause.

👉Arbitration Clauses.

👉Deadlines for prospective employees to send the signed offer letter.

👉Two Signed columns at the bottom of the offer (one for the employer and the other for prospective employees)
If it is only one don't sign it.

If the new company hiring you gave a letter without any of these components or only three of the vital out of the entire list, then my dear what you have is Ofada Letter and not Offer Letter!

I don't think this will matter to unemployed person who has stayed home for months jobless.

And in Nigeria if you get a job and ask too much there are 10001 people waiting to take that spot.

For now get the job and think of next step.

Than doing what labour laws have not implemented

English/Gce/Cambridge
Na why e be letter.
Anything outside FORMAL/INFORMAL
i.e ADDRESS, name, date, contents and signature is not a LETTER or Note.

So of Infor Of the letter content doesn't carry
Proper info, one shouldn't accept such Offer.
In summary, ability to be able to Comprehend the letter [reading, deciphering, assimilate n translate] is the major key 🔑. Thank you

Your last paragraph is not correct. You can have a valid offer letter that does not cover some of the areas you listed.

I have not seen an offer letter from a Nigerian employer before, but in at least one country where I have worked for one of the world's leading companies, my offer letter was delightfully straightforward and only about a page and a half long. It contained only the most essential clauses. It did not contain many of the items you listed.

A non -compete clause is not routinely included in an offer letter for most jobs in the UK for example.

UK courts tend to take a dim view of non-compete clauses in employment contracts, and would only allow it in very limited and justifiable instances.

Unless your job will give you access to a highly secret commercial or research information, your employer should not impose a non compete provision.

Not necessarily. My previous job offer came in a letter less than 15 lines and the past was good. To say I was shocked was an understatement.

Yeah, true and this very professional. Look at the deadline to be signed in the offer letter for instance. Albeit, this day in Nigeria or do I say these days, you just get employed without an offer letter be it a part-time or full-time role in that company or institution. This country does things anyhow both at the private and govermental level. I am praying this country better wakes up to move forward.

Unfortunately. most companies don't give a f*ck about all these welfare consideration. The regulatory agencies are not up to their task due to corruption and 'man-know-man'.
