Remember when the WorldBank, IMF gave Nigeria $800m for Subsidy removal palliatives? money was supposed to be used to restrucure and position the nigerian economy, conduct population census, cussion the effect of subsidy removal(when subsidy is removed)

As soon as the money was paid into fed account by WB/IMF,
FG started paying N5000 to 10million households to cushion the effects of susidy removal.

Suddenly they cancelled/Postponed Subsidy removal so now what will they do with the $800m?

Rightnow, $1.2m will be used to resque students from sudan, perfect but can government be transparent on how the money was spent?
Who owns the buses? How much was it hired for?
Can the give a transparent break down on use of those funds? Because that $1.2 million was meant to be used to buy brand new buses but they hired from some warlord that owns a car rental service in sudan, feed and look after the welfare of those students, yet non of these goals are being accomplished. Students even pay for their own food, 20 buses were supposed to arrive every morning but only 10 arrive everyday.
AND THE CEASE FIRE END IN A FEW HOURS!
When i suggested presidential fleet resque i was shaddow banned, to save fellow country men from risk abroad, you must do it by any means necessary, no room for cowardice. Turkey' resque plane got shot at, but they are successfully evacuating their people. To rescue 5000 people, i dont mind losing 10 planes as long as we find a quick way to rescue our people in danger.

Why was census cancelled? Reason: Lack of funds and adequate resources to conduct the census.
To count 210million people will cost nothing more than $200m.

They will use a large chunk of the money to also fund the redundant civil service, paying salaries, N30K minimum wage. Complete waste of resources.

Is subsidy removal postponed?
The people who postponed it are they still going to be in office after May 29?

I'm just asking.

I pity who is still Been technical and doing statistics and calculating fund and expenses in Nigeria. You are wasting your time. They know what they are doing, they know what they, did even if they are caught nothing can be done. If they are charged to court they'll be bailed for 5 million naira after stealing 100 billion naira.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has said that the government did not suspend plans to remove fuel subsidies but has rather expanded the subsidy removal committee to include teams from the incoming administration and the state governors.

A statement issued by Mrs Ahmed’s Special Adviser on Media & Communications, Yunusa Abdullahi, made this known in a statement Friday.

“Against the backdrop of the story in some media that the federal government has suspended the removal of petrol subsidy, the government has said that it has not suspended the removal, but has rather expanded the subsidy removal committee to include teams from the incoming administration and the state governors,” the statement said.

Who is spreading fake news about suspension?
This govt is not speaking with one voice, its like this president-elect is head over heals about being president proper.

The government is speaking with one voice while the Media is making different interpretations.

According to the MFBNP, the NEC agreed that the incoming administration has a stakeholder role to play in the removal so they need to be consulted as well. The NEC also agreed that the subsidy needs to be removed as quickly as possible. In other words, the incoming administration will determine if the removal will go ahead as planned by June 2023 or be extended until the necessary measures have been put in place.

But there is a court case, what if the court sacks the president-elect?

What about the indefinite postponement of the census?

Whoever wins the case is pro-subsidy removal so there is no issue with this.

Birdbyrde440:

What about the indefinite postponement of the census?

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, earlier scheduled for 3-7 May 2023, to a date to be determined by the incoming administration.

The president noted that with the completion of the Enumeration Area Demarcation of the country, conduct of first and second pretests, the recruitment and training of adhoc workers, procurement of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and ICT infrastructure, appreciable progress has been made in the implementation of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Government is a continuum. With the amount of money and resources already spent, whoever comes in has no option than to complete the exercise before the end of the year.

They are pro subsidy removal and since the case is in court why are they expanding the subsidy removal commitee to include teams of the "incoming administration" ? The incoming administration is subject to court judgement, nothing definite yet.

If government is a continum then there should be no need for expanding the commitee since whoever gets in to aso rock will still remove subsidy on the set of june 2023, why change the date if government is a continum?
Why not continue what Buhari started, why change it?

The 1999 constitution does not accommodate a vacuum in government.

Court case or not, the President-elect will be inaugurated on 29 May. The same applies to the Governors-elect on the same day followed by the National Assembly on the 13 June.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has a timeline of 180 days. Assuming your candidate wins, the President-elect has the constitutional right to submit an appeal at the Supreme Court which remaining in office and enjoying all accrued benefits pending determination of the appeal.
