What's That Thing Said By The Preacher That Compelled You To Repent? The road to salvation is not always an instantaneous and direct one. There were often numerous seeds sown, several paths taken, and different ingredients applied, that sets someone on course towards that right path. Yet it may take several months to get there, sometimes several years or even decades, but there usually that one thing that is able to break the yoke and finally clinch it. It's often something said by a preacher (by the Spirit of God) that compels someone to finally make the decision to sincerely come to repentance and truly surrender their lives to Jesus. However that thing which compels one person towards making that vital decision may be different from that which compels another towards making the same decision. It could varies from person to person. For me, it was what a preacher in a campus meeting I attended said about joining one's body with a harlot, which he preached from apostle Paul's epistle to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 (KJV) Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. That was it for me. Although i appeared to be on the verge of taking that crucial step in my life with many things going on in my life at the time, it seemed what held me back was my lustful sexual attraction to ladies. It was very hard for me to let go, but it seemed that teaching of Paul about joining my body to that of the harlot which the preacher preached about on that very night was able to break that atronghold and convince me to finally let go to take hold of Jesus. Although I had been coming out severally for alter calls prior to that without ever really meaning it, a times even to catch the attention of the same ladies, this time I didn't even come out when the call came, so no one around may have noticed, but on that night there was indeed rejoicing in heaven, because a soul that was once lost had truly come to repentance and been won into the Kingdom of God. In the book of Deuteronomy, God commands the Israelites to kill all of the Midianites, including the women and children. "They completely destroyed everything in the city - men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys." (Deuteronomy 2:34) In the book of Joshua, God commands the Israelites to kill all of the Canaanites, including the women and children. "You shall not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them - the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites - as the Lord your God has commanded you." (Joshua 10:40) In the book of 1 Samuel, God commands the Israelites to kill all of the Amalekites, including the women and children. Yeah... God also said similar about the Ninevites because of their wickedness but... Jonah 3:10 (KJV) AND GOD SAW THEIR WORKS, THAT THEY TURNED FROM THEIR EVIL WAY; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. I remember when I was younger. We used to attend Deeper Life Bible Church then. Omoh. If they preach about "Eternity" for that church, you won't have a reason not to repent. They way they describe hell - the agony, the suffering, the gnashing of teeth, the worms earing through your skin, etc and worse still, the fact that this experience has no end - Till eternity. Then the choir would be humming this song: Eternity X2 Where will you spend Eternity? Man, you'd have no choice than to totally surrender your life to God.. Then I remember those Mount Zion movie about rapture. How believers were raptured leaving others behind. Omoh. Used to be a scary. Just two weeks ago, I was just reminiscing about my childhood and all that, and I asked myself why aren't churches preaching about Hell like in the 90's. We are not taking eternity serious again. Churxhes now downplay the who Eternity thing and make it look like it ain't serious. Back in the day, if you attend a sound bible believing church, messages about eternity were usually responded to by loud wailing and prayers of repentance. These days, they will even do altar cal and nobody will step out. Just because pastors are not able to paint the true picture of Hell. Hell is real oooooo. Even though I still find it quite uncomfortable that God will allow people to burn for eternity, over sins they committed within a lifetime... Well, the Kingdom Hall guys believe that, once you die a sinner, that's the end. There's no resurrection for you and no hell as well. Na the only Jehovah Withness doctrine I always tend to agree with. But like my pastor always say, it is better to believe in hell, and live your life as if it exist. If you die, and you go and find out hell doesn't exsist, you have nothing to lose. But what about you refuse to belive that hell exsist. Then you die, only to discover that hell actually exsists?
