Osuntokun: I Campaigned With Obi For Almost A Year, Lamidi Apampa Was Nowhere To Be Found

As the crisis in the Labour Party continues to occupy the front burner of public discourse, an ally of Peter Gregory Obi has taken a swipe at the former Deputy National Chairman, Lamidi Apampa, by accusing him of showing up after the hard work had been done in the party.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Wednesday, Osuntokun, who was the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, insisted that if Apampa was indeed the Chairman of the Labour Party as he claims, he ought to have been present at the time Peter Obi was touring the country during the pre-election campaigns.

He said; “In the past one year, we have complained and done a lot of party activities with the main agenda being the presidential campaign. During this period, not once did I see any of these names being mentioned. Not once did I see Lamidi Apampa or Arabambi anywhere near our presidential campaign activities. There are no issues in Labour Party. Like I said earlier, I have never seen any of these guys at a party function within the past one year. When Obi, myself, and other members of the executive were traveling around the country on campaigns, Lamidi Apampa was nowhere to be found.

Now, he and his group have come out from nowhere to serve as agent provocateurs. You will recall that at some point, they claim they were disbanding the presidential campaign council and withdrawing the petition from the election tribunal. Who does that to his party? It reminds me of the story in the Bible when two women brought a baby before King Solomon. Remember that it was the pretender who asked for the baby to be sliced into two. That is what Apampa’s group is trying to do to the Labour Party.”

At least, Lamidi Apapa has his name on the Labour Party register that was submitted to INEC. Obi's name and Osuntokun's name are missing there.

Obi's name is to be found on the PDP register, while Akin Osuntokun's name is on the Zenith Labour Party register.

Because Peter Obi brought in a lot of anomaly into our politics in his desperation that he must become President.

Are you not ashamed that Labour Party wasted its ticket on an illegitimate candidate who was not a member of the party as at the statutory time for political parties to submit their membership register?

Are you not ashamed that after the Doyin Okupe, the DG of Peter Obi's campaign, was convicted as a criminal, Peter Obi went to Zenith Labour Party to get a senatorial candidate of that party to become his own campaign DG in Labour Party?

Peter Obi is a desperate failure.

If only he had prepared in his youth, he would have had the peace of mind that Tinubu had to publicly and boldly declare that it was his turn and his supporters should calm down as his victory was inevitable.
